I find most surveys are 75p-£1.50.
The one I did this morning was £4.50 - but they are slow to pay out...
I would prefer "real" money to amazon vouchers - but it means I've not paid out cash for any books this year, so that keeps my bank balance happy....0 -

Round Robins can be great fun but they also have risks. I used to do a lot and while most worked out perfectly I did lose one piece and have another returned to me stained and unusable so if we decide to do one here we have to be aware of the risks.
Almost always each person decides on a theme, marks out their fabric into the appropriate number of squares and stitches the first square. Sometimes people include charts if their theme is a bit obscure.
This is the first RR I did. The theme was national flowers because it was stitched in England (me), Wales, South Africa and Australia
Floral round robin by stitchyfeather, on Flickr
If you want to see any others there are about 5 in my Flickr account - enter round robin as a search term and they should show up. If you do this you will see I developed a bit of a thing for alphabet RRs - I did 3 in total each taking 2 years and I still really like them. I also have a snowman RR "somewhere" which has never been framed or made into a cushion. Note to self - must find and frame or finish for this Christmas:D
If we decide to go ahead I will find my instructions from previous groups which include handy tips such as "state whether or not you want each stitcher to add their name, initials, location, date etc"
Hope everyone has a happy stitchy Sunday0 -

Will we make a deadline for signing up...How about next Friday the 21st at midnight. I will then sort out names over the weekend and send you the person you will be stitching for. I will need everyone's full names and addresses. Please pm me with those details.
Thanks.
Thanks for organising this I've sent you my details. We also need to agree the latest date for posting the completed card. As we are planning this now I would suggest something like the first weekend in December for mailing then we will have plenty of time for photographing and showing the group what we have received throughout December (the really fun part:D)0 -

I too have taken part in quite a few round robins, and have been quite lucky that only one went wrong. All pieces were eventually returned to their owner but it did take a while. It was an alphabet one which I think was just too much of a commitment for the people involved as it took too long. We had a three week turn around which was fine until it came to holidays and Christmas and people just had too much on. In retrospect we should have stopped posting during these times and then restarted again when things were calmed down again as it would have stopped some people having a huge backlog to clear.flowerofscotland wrote: »Thanks for organising this I've sent you my details. I think the 1st weekend in December sounds great, and then maybe do the reveal on about the 15th to let everyone show what they received. I will include all details in the final messages to everyone...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
Hi guys, sorry i'm a few days behind on posts so will try and read later as i had a scary start to the day. Woke up at 6.25am to the sound of puppy having a fit. She's recovered now and almost back to her old self. Vet said there doesn't seem to be any reason for it, just waiting for blood test results. I hope it never happens again, please send positive thoughts to TikaaniCross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0

NMM - Aww, bless must have been very scary... Hope she is feeling better now. *sending healing thoughts*
Re: card exchange- have sent details.
Main surveys signed at present - Ipsos, toluna, valued opinions, dig connections, online panel, opinion world et al.
Planning on getting each one up to a decent amount I think and claiming and then leaving alone for x amount of years. Too much wasted time and not enough reward. Could be stitching much more
Re: food diaries, I do plan but then get bored and feel crap on the night etc, so goes to pot. Saw this recently though. One of the best one i've seen. http://two-in-diapers.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/i-have-received-lots-of-compliments-on.html
Re: Round robin, Think I would be interested in taking part in the new year, like the idea of a theme, perhaps something more obscure so get chance to stitch something wouldn't normally choose.
Re: stitchyness, Realised I can not stitch when room is messy, tidied it up late last night on a whim while looking for the mag I stashed my snowman threads in to travel with... however cannot find them anywhere and can not remember which mag it was, just that wasn't the one they came with...pfft.
No stitching this afternoon, Off for a pub roast with OH, Dad and his hubby. Haven't seen them in a month! They live 5 mins away.
Enjoy the day everyone!

Anyone able to help me out..
I am making a hamper for my aunt's 50th birthday. I have everything I need for it, mostly mini bottles of wine...lol, and am going to get the cellophane tomorrow to wrap it in, but I had wanted to put a message on the cellophane, just something like FIFTY TREATS using foam letters, which I swear my pound shop always had in stock. I haven't been able to find them anywhere. I can get them on ebay but I will either have to buy three packs of A-Z or a mixed pack which won't guarantee that I get the letters I need.
Anyone have any other ideas ??;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
Caroline - what size do you want? I think I have some in Brown and White. I'll check.
Also just stumbled on these - opinion for cross stitch project.. Will prob like or hate. I can't decide.

I have an off topic question too this morning....
Do any of you meal plan and if so, how do you do it? I am finding that not being very organised and changing my mind is wasting food....
So I had planned on doing lots of cross stitch this weekend but I don't feel like doing any at the moment.why oh why is the stitching mojo not there ?
It's probably hiding alongside mine - if you find it, give mine a kick at the same time
As for meal planning, when I do it, I jot down what I have in the fridge/freezer/cupboard and see what I can conjure up out of those, then for remaining days I ask the family what they would like and shop accordingly. The weeks I do meal plans I always spend much less and hardly anything is wasted, I get annoyed with myself for not doing it all the timeflowerofscotland wrote: »

That sounds like a good plan, although I think it sort of defeats the purpose if people don't want others to add their name and location - you might as well just do it yourself :rotfl:
The national flowers is great, and such a good theme - did you send the charts with your fabric, or did people find their own flowers to stitch?subtle_minx wrote: »Re: stitchyness, Realised I can not stitch when room is messy, tidied it up late last night on a whim while looking for the mag I stashed my snowman threads in to travel with...
xx
Me neither!!
Mess affects my mood, so I feel really down if it isn't tidy. I feel much more content if everything is done before I sit down to relax
nmm - what a fright, I hope she is feeling better now x
We are just about to head to see MIL - it's her birthday today. Will try and stitch tonight, it's a bank hol tomorrow so I don't need to sleep early. I'm sortof hoping OH gets a call asking him to go in and work tomorrow (double time):o poor man :rotfl:Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
