MrsM - Congrats on your win :T I have seen Scarlett in mags and she is lovely (and agree she looks like Kate M) The only one of his ladies I have stiched was 'Charlotte' (green, with victorian style big hat) it was a fairly easy stitch as I recall. I must find her, I think she is in the loft..one of the pics that never made it back onto the wall after we moved house (5 years ago
)
Mags - I use gold plated needles as well, althogh they are nver gold for long lol
b_e_g - I have changed the list for your 10.11.12 - hope you haven't jinxed yourself:p:p :rotfl:
Catwoman - The wizard is stunning
Maria - Your table mats are beautiful :T I wouldn't want anyone using them in case they spilled something lol
23rdspiral - Welcome back! I tried to reply to your pm but your message inbox is full :rotfl:
Flat Eric - I'm going to have to buy CSC now! Thanks for the review, and for the Crosstitcher one, but I can't buy that as well
Btw my smoke alarm works just fine - it's tested every time I use a frying pan..or if there's any steam from the oven...it's super sensitive :rotfl:
JCS1 - The Poppy fairy is beautiful :T (and is that a Sainsbury's frame? Now for my next off topic question! Do any of you have or do any of your children own the Nintendo 3DS console? I bought a DS console a few years back and bought lots of games. I very rarely play it now.
I saw recently that there was a new mario game being released (and got excited) but when I read up on it, it only works if you have the 3DS consoleI have also seen very recently that there is a new Professor Layton game but again, its exclusive to the 3DS console. I love professor layton but not enough to shell out £139.99 (according to Argo%) for a new console. Time spent on games consoles is time that could be better spent stitching!
Anyhow if you own or know someone that owns a 3DS console - are they worth it ? its something I might consider if they come down in price but then no doubt i will find myself in the same dilemma where they release yet another updated console and games that only work if you buy it.
oh and finally, will my old games work with the 3DS console?
I got DS1 one for christmas last year (£115)- If you are going to buy 3D games then it's definitely worth it (you can also turn the 3D off and play the game normally btw)
DS lite and DSi games do work in the new console (thankfully)
I would have liked to buy the 3DS XL but they didn't have them last year and the prices are a bit steep atm for them.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I finally got around to sorting out some frames to reduce the amount in the "finished but not yet got around to framing pile". First one is a Poppy Flower Fairy, it's embellished rather than fully cross stitch. I gave it to a friend I met at lunch, she has a daughter called Poppy.
This is gorgeous and the background (which I imagine is printed on the fabric) really sets off the design. What a fabulous present0 -
Catwoman, thanks for your encouragement. I used to leave all the backstitch to the end but now I do it as I go thanks to a tip from everyone on here. The Gorjuss that is a UFO is because its the backstitch  The scarlet wizard looks amazing however I think if you did it as you go along it wouldn't be too bad.
FOS, thanks, I do love doing B&W pieces prob more than coloured pieces however they are more of an end result piece rather than seeing the piece transform as you go. Great work finishing that angel, its not for me but its a lovely example of your stitching :T
Maria, those peacock feathers are stunning. Are they stitched directly onto aida or have they been stitched onto something else?
Ellie, Sorry the phonecall wasn't vry good news. I hope the stitching helps with the hunger
Littlestar, this one is for me, I adore London. I will be framing it and it will be going on display in my roomI love that tatty teddy and a good choice to sub the hearts for stars.
Shelly, I hope you fall in love with your new addition and she likes her new home :rotfl:
Sweetcarer, I hope you did well at your competitions today. Look forward to the results...
FlatEric, I looked at the project pack for the christams angel from CSC however I decided against it. It does however work out a little cheaper because I tooted it up as it used mettalic thread and beads. That said I have never spent more than £30 on a kit before
JCS, love that poppy fairy the background makes thr fairy 'pop'.
Only approx 20 stitch's to go on London :j However today I have been completing NVQ work as I am seeing my assessor on Monday. I am hoping to finish it tonight and get it washed/pressed tomorrow. I shall post the pictures soon :T0 -
Afternoon everyone,
fos - Christmas Angel is beautiful :T
Louise - congratulations on your award - well done you:D. Thanks for changing the special dates list on Page 1. Will update siggy so that it all ties up. Boofle might slip into the 12/12/12 spot now.
.
Oh I forgot so say that I got some of these crafty bits while I was shopping in Mr.M's yesterday - thought they may interest some of you crafty people. Thought the price was quite good and you seemed to get loads.
Received package from Cross Stitch Heaven today - still awaiting three threads to follow and the card I ordered for card exchange has an oblong aperture and they sent me one with an oval aperture. Is it just me - each time I place a thread order I seem to request something that is not in stock. Sorry .......... rant over.
I rarely deviate much from charts but on the Lizzie Kate 'Tis the Season' as I don't have the charm kit I'm being a little bit 'inventive' and using some sparkly thread on the pressie and putting some sequins on the tree. Hence the purchase from Mr. M.'s as I don't usually 'do' sequins. Hope it works.
DH has just pointed out a 20% off at Hobbycraft voucher in today's Daily Mail (valid until 4th Nov).
Hope to get some stitching done whilst XFactor is on later but I need to watch Strictly.
Hope sweetcarer brings home lots of trophies home after all here hard work.
Good luck with your assessment pap on Monday and look forward to seeing update of London.

A quick catch up before settling down to watch Strictly and then do some stitching
catwoman I like those containers for loose needles - different colour lid for different sizes would be very useful
Maria Your table looks stunning - the matching coasters and mats look even better than I thought they were going to.
elliep what a frustrating phone call - well done you for insisting on sticking to the original date
littlestar your tatty teddy with the yellow stars looks great - does it need the additional backstitch (you aren't allowed to carry bs over more than one square and I can't remember if TT designs do this). I will look out for your square on the site
shelly looking forward to "meeting" the new addition to your family
23rdspiral Lovely to see you again  Don't be a stranger
FE Noel cushion is very striking and will look fabulous finished. Although I am a huge fan of linen I think I would use evenweave as it is smoother for the blackwork. 27 count Linda in ivory would work well IMHO and isn't much dearer than 16 count aida. The half stitches will be much easier on evenweave than on aida. You could use a gold colour DMC if you don't want to use metallic braid though I find Kreinik braid is one of the easiest metallics to use
sweetcarer Hope the competition went well and that the weather was kind. We have had a beautiful day - blue skies, cold and frosty
Have a good evening one and all0 -
Louise - yes, it is a Sainsbury's frame:D It fitted perfectly.
The background is printed, it was something I stitched a few years ago and then when I was matching frames to sewing I realised it made a perfect present when you have a daughter called Poppy.
I found some nice square frames in Wilkos today, so going to try and have a big framing session tonight, seem to have lost stitching mojo at the moment.
FOS love the Christmas angel :T0 -
Evening all sorry not been posting much lately not sure why. Thanks for all the comments re my table I live it, i'm worried about gravy spillages ect, I did read somewhere about a spray you can buy to protect your sewing but I can't for the life of me remember where or what it was called!
Made up 8 pillows yesterday. Let me know if you want pictures and i'll post some.
Of to make my Christmas tree skirt tonight, its no sew so I get to play with my new glue gun.
Love the poppy fairy she's stunning
Beg- has just got back from hobby craft when I read about the voucher lol never mind
Love the Christmas angel also13 in 2013 challenge 9/130 -
Maria - I've heard of people using Scotch Guard, never used it myself so not sure if it works or affects the fabric in any way. Might be worth checking on a test sample first!0
