Hi Ladies.
Littlestar. Calendar Bears are coming along lovely!
Skoobie. Kitty stocking is cute, it made me smile to look at it. Angel is coming along really well, can't wait to see her finished.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
When looking for something else I came across this page which shows the free designs by Marilyn Leavitt Imblum (Lavender & Lace designer) stitched onto perforated paper.
I know they won't be to everyone's taste but I really like them and have stitched about 6 of them. The free charts are excellent but don't come with very good illustrations of the finished design so this page really shows what you can achieve
This is one I stitched which I keep on display as I don't think it screams Christmas like many of them do

I've just added Stitch Upon a Star to my to do list0 -
silllly forum - just as I'd caught up yesterday it goes and crashes so. lets try again ..........
*Louise* - love the angel, glad you changed her hands.
WOW Littlestar, congratulations on your new stash. It’s funny you should mention hailstones. I was on my way to work Tuesday (or maybe Wednesday) and was convinced I saw wispy bits of snow in the heavy rain…….but I thought I drempt it.
Calendar bears looks fab.
Thinking of you today Ruth_honey, such a shame you have to go on your own.
Mrs M-P that’s appaling service from the4 restaurant, Is it a chain? I’d be sending a letter of complaint to head office.
SkoobieWork today is a bit grrrrr, people trying to make me do a whole lot of unecessary work as they are too lazy!
I loveeeee getting parcels.
FOS – I’ve not checked today but last night on facebook Joan Elliott had a right bee in her bonnet because she couldn’t remember giving cross-stitching.com permission to give her chart away free (apparently they put it in the mag years ago but haven't seeked permission for this time around)………..anyone checked today to see if they provided her with the proof she asked for??
Mr A is helpfully bringing my shopping tonight (tune into my diary sometime over the weekend to see what thrilling variations of 'on toast' I can come up with to cover the next 4 weeks meals.
Also must update my avatar........ 9 weeks...........loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Yet in my full-time many years ago, I wouldn't have given it a second thought. I worked in a building soc - covered for assistant manager on mat. leave as well, I would arrange mortgages/sort people out with arrears etc and didn't bat any eyelid. But now - if I can get someone else to call for me (usually DH) I will or I have to really pysche myself to do it. What has happened to me - is it an age thing or is it the fact that I am in a different environment now.
sk00bie - I love it when parcels arrive - even when its just a bunch of threads - I know - I am really sad these days
I know what you mean about having to psyche yourself upI was a receptionist from age 18-21 so phones aren't the problem per se.... I don't mind answering a phone and helping someone, but it's the sheer frustration of someone else not being quite so helpful and passing you from pillar to post.
Ps - I love parcel as wellI always forget what I have bought so it's always a nice surprise. I have had 6 just delivered (postie joked 'it must be nearly Christmas'):rotfl: but I need to wait till the kids are out the way before I can dive into them cos it'll be for them lol
Louise - these are lovely. Its funny, I was only thinking this morning/yesterday that I fancy a stitchy weekend and that I want to stich some xmas themed designs.
How many hours a week do you think you spend stitching? I know I would do more if I didn't get so tired and if work and housework didn't get in the way.
It's been nice doing some Christmas stuff (tries not to look at '12 Days' sitting in the corner)
I honestly couldn't say how many hours I stitch a week, it varies so much. I usually do work and housework during the day so evening are my own. Mind you I spend a few of them out doing various things and work on my websites so I probably stitch 1-2 hours in the evenings while watching some tv but can do 4-6 at the weekends if I'm engrossed in something. So maybe 17-18 hours a week? (Gosh that sounds a lot!)
Kitty looks really cute and you are making amazing progress on that Angel, she is lovely:T

Magscat, lol I do have good memory unless I need to remember anything
Ohh thanks I would love to see the finished pieces together.
Ruth, I hope today went as well as it could :grouphug:
Alis, Happy 25th Aniversary :T I love the little Paris design your Oh purchased you. I am sorry you didn't have such a good meal out.
Louise, good choice to change the Angels hand, the original did look a little odd :rotfl: Super cute Robin too!
Littlestar, have fund finding projects to do in your magazine's. I hope your list isn't too long at the end of it! Great progress on your calendar of bears!
Skoobie, love the finished cat the paper looks really nice. Much nicer effect than plasic aida. The angel is amazing!
FOS, I love that finished angel, certainly doesn't look christmasy to me. It looks very victorian... That said it wouldn't be something I would normally stitch, might have a gander at the site though
Have finished a few more pages on London but needed to get some other missing skeins. I have 4* 310 (black) skeins but can't find any nowBad idea taking Mum to HC with me, I now have three mini kits to stitch to make as decorations for the tree.
I am also thinking of ordering a new chart from Al's possibly an Owl for Mum for xmas 2013. So thanks to FOS for the link to Sparklies because will be using there fabric, just need to decide/opinions on which to use
Happy Friday All!!!0 -
Afternoon all. I am looking for some advice/guidance please from all you more experienced stitchers
I have started the Michael Powell design from the latest WOCS. I am normally a stickler about stitches not overlapping under the backstitch and making them quarter or three-quarter stitches where necessary but do I need to forget this with a MP design? Is it the overlapped stitches that make his designs so quirky?
Hope you understand what I mean by this - not so easy to explain even though I can see exactly what I mean in my mind!!!

I'm sure Louise will be best placed to answer this as she has actually stitched this design but IMHO the designs look a bit like sketches so the backstitch does not have to be precise. But there is nothing to stop you stitching the design the way you feel happiest doing.0 -
brednall - are they the brightly coloured cartoony style pictures?? I would say they are deliberately designed so the colour escapes around the backstitch, it's what makes them quirky.
I will stitch tonight...............i will stitch tonight.....................loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -
Happy :jthat I am home from work and the weekend has started. Have my Mum coming round for tea tonight so looking forward to that and also looking forward to a LARGE glass of wine so not sure if any stitching will get done this evening.
Disappointed to get an e-mail from Eba/ about a country companions kit I am after (at woodstump station) only to see once again that the e-mail search that I have saved has picked up a cd of country companions chart designs.always get excited that the kit has finally come up for sale only to see once again that it is someone selling the chart on disk.
anyhow - not sure on plans for tomorrow but Sunday I think must be devoted to a bit of stitching
Have a lovely weekend all0
