skoobie1 - cute kitty, loving the angel, cant wait to see it finished.
littlestar1981 - love the teddies, i remember doing that myself about 10+ years ago. Isnt it strange how you forget what you've sewn, as i've done cushions, samplers etc for family & friends. Wish i'd had photographs of all my completed pieces now.0 -
elliep - if you did manage the NEC on the Friday it would be good to meet for a real coffee and cake (although I don't actually like coffee so it would be tea).
Sk00bie - your cat is really cute and the angel looks lovelier eachh time you post a picture of her.
Littlestar - your calendar bears are great - are you stitching them for yourself or someone else? I used to collect Cherished Teddys and have this pattern somewhere. I did stitch one once but even remember where it ended up.
Leemina - I agree I wish I'd taken photos of the things I've stitched/made for others over the years, I can't even remember some of them now. Occassionally when an older member of the family or family friend dies I get given things back as I stitched them and people think I'd like them back - that's a strange feeling when it happens. Have a quite a few things that are framed and up the loft. When we get round to clearing the loft - it's something we keep saying we will do and not actually doing - I might get all my stitching toegther and decide what to do with it and as a minimum take photos.
Picked my fairy stitching up again last night and managed to stitch 2 leaves, have to say I find the leaves round the design very hard going. Not sure if it's all the half stitches and continual counting or having to stitch each individual stitch as I'm using variagated thread. Will keep going but may have to start the bug as well.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

I've got a last-minute day off today. If the weather cheers up I'm contemplating going to Cheltenham races (I love photographing race horses) but the way it's looking right now, I may just curl up with Relativity and many cups of tea.
Whichever- day off work :T0 -

I *think* my mum might be working at Cheltenham racecourse today. Through an agency, so not sure what area she would be working in. Wander round with a cross stitch magazine on display and she'll probably say hello! :rotfl: If you do go, hope you enjoy it.Cross Stitch Cafe Monthly Challenge Member #27
12/12/12 challenge-[STRIKE]Season's Greeting Newton's Law[/STRIKE] Christmas polar bear-finished on time!
Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A0 -
Woot, glad to see that the forum is back, snuggled down to check after a day away and alas... felt like lost a small limb - maybe a pinky. Can't remember all names/spellings etc and orders so comments below.
Louise- Angel looks fab, hand position def looks better. This is the sort of thing that would be good with a little guardian angel pinned to the dress as card/gift. Robin is very cute. As always your speed inspires, amazes and envys me.
Littlestar, hope exam gets sorted, what are you studying?, just out of curiousity. Bears look fab, Love the Octobear (yes, I'm sad like that)
Mags- I adore the owl, the browns are sooo effective!
Ailsb, love the Paris stitch, so romantic and wonderful souvenir.. Wow, 25 yrs, if I get down the aisle (or engaged) I will happily look forward to that... as yet patiently waiting. Hubby to be doesn't seem to understand sooner engaged, married etc sooner reach those big achievements. :P
Brednall - If no one else has requested spooky alphabet I'd be interested... Let me know pls.
Also I got 2 of the M's exclusive MS xmas charts gift that came with mag last month, so any regulars want one? I think I remember Flat Eric being tempted but had already subbed.
Finally - (I know leaving it late but having a restart)
Does anyone know where I can get or has any spare spooky/black/purple/grey/orange/green etc (hand dyed?) evenweave scraps not needed (or know where I can buy some uber quick). Needs to be a 9x9 cm squared either 25,28,30 ct. I'm happy to reimburse p+p and fabric cost and wouldn't normally ask but I need at least 6 in diff colours for a Halloween project. I think I have a couple of colours (although not overly Halloween).
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers

Been away on business for a couple of days so only been able to read and not post. So apologies in advance for the length of this post
Shelly So pleased that the Slide piece was well received - we stitchers appreciate it but you can't always predict how non stitchers will react
sweetcarer I recognise that piece and it is lovely but I have no more idea than you which magazine it came from. If you do find out the issue number I will have it in my stash if it is Cross Stitcher or an old issue of Cross Stitch Collection
beg Photo cards are a great idea for mounting stitching pieces.
Mags cat The blackwork owl done in browns and taupes looks lovely and I'm sure your friends will be delighted. The frame is perfect. Haven't been into BHS for years - may have to check out the frame department
leemina Great news about the ipad version of stitchy magazines. May be looking into that option if Santa delivers what I have asked for
You mentioned that you were in Australia. This site has some beautiful hand dyed fabrics (as well as lots of other stitchy goodies). I used to be in a round robin group that had some members in Australia and this was one of their favourite sites.
Agree it is really annoying to recall pieces you have stitched and didn't photograph
laura Thanks for the recommendation about gel superglue - I've never tried it but it seems like it would be useful
The card with the badge is another brilliant idea
Love Noah's Ark - it is really coming along and the colours are lovely
ruth honey thinking of you at the funeral today. Hope the journey is ok and that you don't get too tired
mrsmp It was me who suggested looking on eb for the Celtic Christmas chart I am delighted that your daughter was so generous. :j These designs are wonderful and although large are not that difficult to stitch as you know (limited backstitch, no confetti stitching etc). The most challenging aspect is the beading but it does look spectacular when finished. Is the Christmas one going to be your project to start on 10 11 12 and finish on 11 12 13?
Ailsb Belated happy anniversary wishes. Paris is a lovely city for a romantic break and the souvenir kit is beautiful It will make a lovely lasting reminder. Christmas crafts show sounds great. I am resisting the temptation to go even after you said about getting tickets with clubcard points so "free". Just too many other expenses during Nov and Dec. :xmassmile I have been to shows and not spent much money but I couldn't bear to go knowing that I couldn't spend ISWIM. Hope you have a great time.
I have had stitched pictures returned to me when family members have died. I like the thought behind it - whoever is clearing the house doesn't want to just throw it out.
JCS Hope you manage to do some stitching to relax - it sounds like you need it
Louise Love your latest finishes - you are so right about the position of the hand. The robin is really cute
littlestar great news about the magazines and I'm sure the donor will be pleased that they have gone to someone who appreciates them. Wonder if you will come across sweetcarer's missing chart when you are going through them?
Calendar Bears looks great
FE The Cross Stitch Gold in the shops at the moment is the one that has the Blackwork Angel in it.
b e g What is "sad" about getting excited about parcels arriving? It's wonderful when they contain stitchy things
benny Welcome back:wave:
skoobie You are really on a roll Kitty is wonderful and blackwork angel is stunning
subtle minx This site (Sparklies) sells small sample size pieces in lots of colours but I don't know how quickly you would get them
I haven't done a lot of stitching recently but have made some progress on the making up of Angel Stocking 2, almost finished the xs on my Shepherd's Bush stocking and finished off a UFO - a Joan Elliott Christmas Angel/Fairy which only needed pearly beads adding to it. I didn't have these when I finished the xs and bs and when I finally got the beads didn't get round to attaching them. I have even managed to frame the piece so it is with the rest of my Christmas stitching pieces waiting for December.0 -
I know there are some Joan Elliott fans on here so thought I would mention that cross-stitching.com has a free fantasy dragon chart by JE You have register on the site but that's all It's the site run by the publishers of WOCS, Cross Stitch Gold etc0

FOS - Thank you sooo much, that link and fabrics are incredible!
