To sky or not to sky

Hi,
My package has just come to an end and bumped up to £61 a month including talk and BB.
After an hour on the phone they offered me the following based on the fact that I wanted the full package which currently costs £75 per month.
20% off for a year, making my package £60 per month
25% off for 6 months making it about £53 per month and then back to £75.
I wanted a new box as mine was 2 years old. They offered me an engineer call out for £15, refurb box for £30 or brand new box with 12 months HD subscription for £89.
I ended up cancelling despite their best efforts to keep me. I now have 31 days to decide what to do. I have switched before but always prefer sky tbh. I do kinda want the full package and would go for it at 20% cheaper but I wanted to see what people thought. I need a new box as well. What do people think about their offers on the box?
Let me know, many thanks

Money-saving advice?
Go for Freesat. It's free, apart from the initial cost of the receiver.0 -
Yeah, had one before but I prefer Sky tbh. I think I'd be willing to pay the full package with 20% off for a year if I could get the box free but they won't offer me that. Next best may be the refurb box!0

Anyone got any advice?0

Is there actually anything wrong with your 2 year old receiver?0

Well it has started to pixilate on certain recordings. Nothing heavy but I suppose it's only a matter of time before it gets worse. I kind of think I need a new box cause I don't think my old one will last. I don't really trust refurbs though.... Even if I can get one for £30. I think I'm gonna go for 20% off 12 months and stump up the £90 for the brand new box. No one on here has offered any better advice0

Sounds more like a dish alignment issue than the box having problems, have you checked the signal level and quality readings? That gum you like is coming back in style.0

We left sky in June and have already received the 75% off any package mails. They started about a week after our switch off and have increased the discount each time.
What we did is to keep a diary of what we watched for one month. At the end you can see what you watched and is sky worth it. For us it wasn't so we haven't gone back. It really opened up our eyes to the fact we never really watched it despite thinking we couldn't do without it.0 -
Offer on at the minute is free for 4 months or 12 month at 50% off
A few at work have had this0 -

..such is the power of the continual advertising being thrust upon us.
I'm on VM at the moment, but since I seem to be paying to have my viewing interrupted every 10 mins to watch adverts, I am rapidly reaching the conclusion that I'd be much better off with Freesat or Freeview. If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Thanks guys, food for thought!0
