  • Anyone see that programme on TV the other week about the housing estate in Blackburn? Woman on there was annoyed because jobcentre made her go to job interviews and she said she had better things to do than look for a job. Nice one.

As soon as the interviewer mentioned about what would happen if she got offered a job she started going on about how unwell she was.

BUT shes sitting there in her living room, smoking fags, watching flat screen TV paid for by us the taxpayer.

Pity there's not some way that benefits can only be spent on essentials to live and not fags, booze, tattoos, haircuts, TVs, iphones etc. Maybe pay benefits onto a special credit card :-)

Some people might work out then that its just an emergency thing until you get a job not a lifestyle choice to pay for nice things. You need to work to get this!

The woman who you were disparaging had been through an abusive relationship, was physically beaten by her husband and was suffering from depression after being abandoned to look after her kids alone. Yet you begrudge her a television, you selfish, little man.

    Allegedly........unless you know her personally.
I'm sure the alcohol and drugs are helping with the 'depression' though.....

That is what she said in the documentary, I have no reason to disbelieve her.

I would say that was symptomatic, rather than the cause.

I would if they were as bigoted as you.

    I am not your mate.

The Welsh are not a race. Besides, England subsidises that country to the tune of over £16 billion a year. Wales is just one big benefits sponge. If it wasn't for English taxpayers, the likes of paulfoel would not be employed, presuming that he is of course.

Who says I even live in Wales? Obviously, from my sig I am Welsh but you're making a lot of assumptions here.

Also, I can guarantee that no English taxpayers have created a job for me.

Oh come on she's not the only person ever to have a rough time. Are you saying that because she's had this rough time that she's now allowed to not make any effort at all to get a job?

Plenty of people in the world who have suffered worse than her and don't expect to laze around for the rest of their life.

What I don't understand is that you seem to have a huge issue with England subsidising Wales and wasting English tax payers money as you see it but then you don't mind lazy sods in England screwing the system? Doesn't make sense. Surely you can't think this woman's attitude that she doesn't ever need to work is OK?

I will agree with you though there are tons of lazy sods in Wales too. Not sure if there's more percentage-wise than in England but I can assure you my feelings are the same about them. But then again, I never made this persons nationality an issue in the first place.

Do you believe everything you hear?

I would suggest the cause of the depression is sitting on her !!!!! all day in a filthy house with kids running about wild, drinking and smoking heavily and taking drugs. Perhaps some exercise, fresh air and work would help her cause.
