Ah, I knew someone would come up with a silly comment about how their dad/mum/mate/themselves worked 12 hours a day and so on and so forth - but we're all different, I personally don't want to work in an environment that's going to damage me and adversely affect my work (which could lead to disciplinary action or loss of job eventually), and we're not all cut out for harsh long shiftsor certain environments. I've never been sacked, only ever been made redundant, and never walked out on a job before. So I shall not accept that I am in the wrong in that sense, only that I made a mistake and wasn't suitable for this particular job. I doubt that I'd do well working on an oil rig or down a mine, doesn't mean others can't.

I've applied for other positions, and am seriously looking into self-employment doing something I love and am passionate about, maybe I could scrape enough together to get by that way, but that's for a different forum. :)

Morganedge, I'm too honest and I think that this would show on some form of record, seeing as I handed in my P45 and bank details on the very first day? I don't think I could get away with pretending it didn't happen, but thankyou for the suggestion.

I worked 60-84hr working weeks for nearly 2 decades. And it was crap in the most part with sleep depravation and missing out on family life being a big part of that. I'm now physically shafted and disabled as well. Given my time again, no way would I do it.

Your last sentence was absolutely spot on. You tried it, its not for you, move on. No point killing yourself.

Ignore alsoinhd, they haven't a clue what they're talking about. (S)he didn't work 12hr shifts for decades, his/her father did. Easy to talk about it when you've not actually done it yourself. (S)he must be too stupid to get the lesson taught at his/her fathers expense if (s)he hasn't seen by the poor health his/her father is in isn't worth it.

awwww diddums! My dad has ALWAYS worked 12 hour shifts since he was 16 now he is 55- his back is messed up - wonder why he just hasn't 'given up'. You should be ashamed of yourself.

    You are so ignorant..

Op I'd get your ear checked for signs of infection or tinnitus..
I always take the moral high ground, it's lovely up here...

I wonder why too. You should try to convince him to stop.

You struggled to learn to drive, cannot learn to ride a bike and noises are too much for your even with ear plugs in? Do you have a diagnosis that covers this and any other unusual issues? If not seek one, it will make life a lot easier for you knowing what the issue is and the Jobcentre will be a lot more sympathetic if you can't do particular jobs for health reasons.

    Interesting.
i can't drive. Failed lots and lots of tests. however, I can deal with noise.
Failed my cycling test as a kid, too.
You think Maybe there's a benefit out there for me so that I can stop loading trucks for 10 hours per day and enjoy life?

Since when has generally being useless been a health issue?

    Maybe it should be.

Maybe they'll put a label on it one day.
A bit like how ADHD never really seemed to exist, and now every other child seems to have been diagnosed with it.

In the future we might get a 'useless benefit' being paid out. Not really good at anything? Claim for 'useless person benefit' at £200 per week.

    Can't wait
  • Op, you may be better off seeing a doctor about any health issues as your own health is of most importance.

You wont get much sense or advice on here

And too the person taking digs at the ADHD, i suppose your one of these who think Chronic Fatigue is a made up illness aswell?
Sure would like you too make a dig at that one
