I personally would judge a woman who has had multiple abortions due to not being responsible with contraception as somewhat idiotic (why someone would go through an abortion several times instead of using contraception properly I dont know).

That doesnt mean to say that I would deny them an abortion because essentially IMO the end result i.e. an unwanted baby is worse than multiple abortions.
If a woman decides (decides - eg she could use contraception if she wanted) to have multiple abortions rather than use contraception I think it would be very hard to get her to listen to sensible advice.
Abortions are more risky than contraception (I have never read anything arguing otherwise at least), and are more inconvenient and unpleasant, any woman having multiple abortions either has other problems going on that cause problems with contraception or is just not going to readily listen to health advice.

It would be better for avoidable abortions to be avoided by better contraception use, but as contraception is free and easily available and taught in schools, I don't know what else could be done. A strict talking to / mandatory "counselling" after the abortion has been done is inappropiate and far too late - action needs to come before the unwanted pregnancy, not after. Some otherwise intelligent people just do stupid and unwise things, and it is very hard to stop them.

The point is that even when sex is for fun there is a possibility however small of conception. No idea what 'vanilla' sex is. :rotfl:
'vanilla' sex = man parts inserted into woman parts. I was avoiding calling it normal sex because that implies people who do other things are not normal.

Whatever two women do together neither will get pregnant.
Whatever two men do together neither will get pregnant.
A clothed man performing oral sex on a woman carries no risk of conception or vice versa.
If a man and a woman get sexual pleasure from the man dressing up as a rabbit and the woman riding around his back dressed as a gerbil, they may consider that "having sex", but neither will get pregnant.
    People can be quite creative.
    etc

Why is that inappropriate if it has a chance of preventing the same thing happening again?

And you think it is wrong to have that pointed out to them in a professional manner by a healthcare professional ?

    Bully for you.

Do you not think that under the circumstances that it may have been a difficult and sensitive issue for this poster?

It's inappropriate and wrong for it to be mandatory - otherwise you are saying 'you can't have an abortion unless you consent to this other thing that isn't needed for the procedure'.

I don't think it is inappropriate or wrong for contraception advice to be offered.

I should have said heterosexual sex can lead to conception. :o

You only needed to say sex why on earth use strange terms ?

Can I ask why neither of you considered getting the pill in the country where you were living for a year? Other countries have doctors. In many countries you can simply buy the pill over the counter in a pharmacy.

I don't really see the need to take a year's supply with you.

You can also obtain condoms overseas. However, if you didn't want to obtain contraception/protection locally, I hope you each got a years' supply of those as well.

Its not as easy as just walking into a doctors surgery in another country/countries with other health systems (if they even have them - there were certainly no doctors surgeries in some of the places I was in). I was in a different place every week anyway so that simply could not have been relied on as a guarantee, and Im not about to rely on a pharmacy abroad carrying the exact type of pill (considering there are around 30) that I need and then making sure it wasn't counterfeit/didnt cost me an absolute fortune at the same time. Same as my sister, she could have got out to Canada and then found the doctor she could have gained access to through insurance may not have stocked the same pill etc. And then she would have had to pay for them - why on earth would she risk that when she could get a years worth for free before she left? That makes no sense.

Why would you NOT want to take enough supplies for a trip? Thats hardly responsible. Not to mention if a pack got lost etc its better to have more than required when you are not always without reach of a doctor.

And please let me know when you find condoms that fit men who are larger than 'average' size in random shops around the world...

Try going to a doctors and asking for one.

There are lots of things that CAN happen. It doesnt mean they do/are recommended/doctors willing to do them.

    .

I can see why you needed a good supply now!!:T:T:rotfl:
    What is average?

I am often in an area where I work which distributes condoms to students. No one ever asks for anything other than large or extra large!
