hope this one works.... this is my garden so far, bit hard to see but i have a huge veggy patch at the bottom and some strawberry plants around the pond.
This weekend I planted out my petunias, they've been flowering indoors for too long now! If the pic works you should be able to see my lovely new cherry tree and my collection of tomato plants!0 -

Ok, a bit of advice please. Ive bought some more carrot seeds, can i just dig up the area i planted the last lot in (that havnt worked), and re plant these new seeds?
Also, ive bought some seed potatoes - ive got 2 big tubs (similar to a bin, but not as high) to plant them in - how many do i plant (im guessing that i put some compost, then the seeds, then more compost, and then when they start sprouting i add more compost etc until its up to the top - is that right?) and do i plant more the futher up, or just the original ones on the bottom?0 -

Hi, Cat :j I can see you're really getting into this :T Carrots like a sunny spot, so if you have that, then I'd put more seed in the same place.
I've never done potatoes in containers. However, assuming your bin is approximately the same size as a regular dustbin, I'd put 3 - 5 tubers in it. Put a layer of compost in the bottom (20cm deep) then your tuber, and cover with approx. 10cm compost. When the shoots are about 15cm high, mostly cover them with compost. Repeat until your bin is full. This will mimic the effect of earthing up that those of us who grow in the soil do. This has the effect of the shoots of the potato producing more tubers from the sides. Does that make sense
Make sure they're well watered, and give some feed from time to time (I use pelleted chicken poo and Growmore).

Well we've had days of rain and the weeds are visibly growing as you watch them!
Investigated my dwarf french beans today, coz I thought they were taking a long time to come up and... that ****** squirrel has had em - inside the plastic growhouse!. It'll be squirrel BBQ if I catch it! So sowed some more in TTubes INSIDE!
Got my delivery of great compost and bark from a local rehabilition charity (it's great compost and they deliver free) and I didn't order nearly enough as DH has snaffled it all for his own projects, so will need to get back on the phone. I will have to curb my spending and set a monthly garden budget and cut out impulse buys like the fuschia today when I only went for milk!Just call me Nodwah the thread killer0 -
Right, ive just been out and planted my potato tubers - ive put 4 in each container, so fingers crossed for them. Ive also re planted my carrots and some baby gem lettuces - ive not planted them so deep this time, so again, fingers crossed they grow this time. I was able to water them with water i collected in the watering can from the rain we had the last few days, so thats good too!!!!0

hello everyone (and OStylers!)
have been enjoying your thread & piccies of yr gardens!
I havent got a very big garden, BUT i have just bought one of those mini greenhouses from r.dyas, and thought i might have a go and get the kids planting something - but they have to stay in the mini-greehouse as ive got nowhere else to put them!
so any suggestions please as to what to grow? could i grow some tomatoes if i put a grow bag in the bottom and take out one of the upper shelves for room maybe??
well done to lilmrsmullen, you've got loads done there!:T0 -
Thanks Shez, i am now trying to make the decision of weather to put the concrete paving stones i have down, as i have just had the turf laid, and i was thinking ( i want to make a stagger's path running through the grass. To do it today before the turf is established, but i am unsure as to if i should leave it.arrgghhh i don't know, and we only have so many hours before it is dark and my kids start killing each other before bed.0

Hi all
I had yesterday of work, so decided to doa bit in my garden.. shame that it rained most of the day. However I did manange to fit a water but (ironic!) all by myself so I am feeling quite pleased.
I have a question for anyone who may know. I'm thinking of building a sort of wigwam for growing my tomato plants around (I think it would like kinda pretty). I want to dig in some holes/pots for filling with water... I'm thinking of diggin in four space one every other plant... is this overkill, or just right?0
