It's a sort of squash. It produces quite big 'fruits' which you pierce all over and boil then you cut in half and scoop out all this stringy stuff just like spaghetti (removing seeds) and you can then use with pasta sauces. Quite a bland flavour. perfect for me as I'm supposed to avoid wheat and non-wheat pasta is expensive :)

Thanks, so you can basicly use it like pasta?... sounds interesting.. how much room do they take up to grow and is it to late to plant them.... or anyone got a good link where i can just go read it all myself..lol

Oh... and while i'm here... here's what I did in my garden this weekend

I planted my runner beans* and moved the sunflowers into their own tubs so my girls and myself and DH can have a sunflower comp this summer..lol

    * when the packet says 'plant in double rows' does that mean plant 2 quite close to eachother?

    Caz,
re veg spag, as easy to grow as courgettes and you get loads off one plant and they do take up a big space =1 meter sq maybe

and beans, THe textbook way of growing them is 2 rows maybe 6 inches apart with canes making a tall A shape along the row

I'm sure someone will correct me and elaborate if i'm wrong!

Double rows for runner beans are like wig wams or 'A'

Oh well.. I planted mine in 2 rows... the rowns are about 5cm apart then each pair are about 15cm apart...kinda like this (not to scale)

    = = = =

I'll just move them if they start to look cramped...lol
