You could get a job. You are just being fussy.

You just would not think that my mate could do an IT degree and their lecturers tell them they can expect to earn 100 pound a day with no experience. And I do a philosophy degree and I can not even get a basic job.

It is so frustrating that I almost want to pull my arm off.

Is there anything else perhaps, apart from their academic qualifications that separates your £100-a-day friends from yourself? Apart from the fact they all have only 1 arm I mean....

Phil, by working in a shop you can learn a lot of valuable skills that future employers will be looking for.

When you're still sitting here in 5-10 years time still without ever having a job then you'll look like a loser.

Phil - are you prepared not to be called to interview for the job?

You seem to be putting all your eggs in that basket and I have to say that I can't see the above meeting the 'essential' criteria they stipulated in relation to experience.

Yes, that is why I have got other applications in too.

But if I can only do shop work, how is that going to get me the right experience for these sorts of jobs?

Depends what you mean by 'only shop work'. There must be 100 different careers in a supermarkt for example these days - buying, marketing, logistics, r&d, property, legal.... god knows. And you, for example could work towards any of these professions and leave your £100-a-day buddies standing.

You won't of course, you'll still be sitting behind your screen posting nonsense on some forum somewhere in 10 years from now...
