  • Literally the only thing I would refuse to money save on. Need good quality loo roll! Just look for deals on them!
  • Forgot to mention - Mr Ghostlove will only allow Cushelle in the house. It's what his parents had before he moved in with me, and I don't mind spending a little more on something that keeps him happy. Some things just have to be a particular brand for me too - Heinz baked beans, for example. So I let him have his 'things' too. :P
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.
  • I've used the 'hand only' method in the past when times were tough, it's not pleasant but it works, just wash the hand carefully afterwards lol.
Other than that, the Icel*nd paper at £1 for 4 rolls if wonderful, use three/four sheets folded for the 'back' after 'dragging' through the front to dry it. From what I gather men only need to shake off the drips for a pee.

As for wet wipes, they are excellent for when you're having the bum runs , pre/post 'bedroom sports' or need a good clean up during a period and so on.
I buy the cheap own brand baby wipes from As*a and the cheap own brand nappy sacks, just use the wipe if needed after using loo roll (or not if you're just after a quick freshen up), pop in the nappy sack, into the bathroom bin and there you go. Not a good idea to flush as we know.

Tried using a rag for a while for number 1s but it didn't work out, used more water cleaning the rag afterwards £ wise than using loo roll!
Have to agree with that above. If you need a good cleanup the a wad o paper(3 sheets) with a little baby lotion works well!:j If you use the wad for the front you can use it on the back too-just not the other way around! Wet wipes block loos-great as they are-put them in a bag to dispose of them! Nicky(Farmfoods HB and Waitrose)are excellent. Cheap ones a false economy unless you are into the "finger" method!
I average 6 sheets which I think is probably pretty average-darned if I will skimp on this one!!!:D

  • Back in my old army days in the 24hr rat packs you got tracing paper. About 5 sheets. What you had to do was rip a corner off and then stick your middle finger through the middle of the paper then use you finger to wipe. After wrap remaining paper around your finger making sure you get it all off your finger. Now for the corner you ripped off. This is used to clean your finger nail. Sorry guys. I never did this as I always nicked loo roll from the loos before going out on protrol.
  • ...Afterwards I wiped my tail with a hen, with a co.ck, with a pullet, with a calf's skin, with a hare, with a pigeon, with a cormorant, with an attorney's bag, with a montero, with a coif, with a falconer's lure. But, to conclude, I say and maintain, that of all torcheculs, ar.sewisps, bumfodders, tail-napkins, bunghole cleansers, and wipe-breeches, there is none in the world comparable to the neck of a goose, that is well downed, if you hold her head betwixt your legs. And believe me therein upon mine honour, for you will thereby feel in your nockhole a most wonderful pleasure, both in regard of the softness of the said down and of the temporate heat of the goose, which is easily communicated to the bum-gut and the rest of the inwards, in so far as to come even to the regions of the heart and brains. (François Rabelais) :rotfl:

Sadly my budget doesn't quite run to using the neck of a well downed goose (and rather against animal rights ethics), so I make do with Lidl recycled, strictly two sheets per tear. :p

  • What a strange question!

I don't know how to make it last longer, but I did learn a few things the other week; The more 'luxury' the brand, the less bio-degradable it tends to be (Also wet wipes aren't bio-degradable, and make a big mess of the pipes). Flushing anything like that means you're more likely to block your pipes, and ultimately, because it has to be removed from the water when it's being treated, it makes it more expensive to treat. Using cheaper stuff costs you less, and will stop your water bills will go up!

As for me, I tend to buy mid-range (whatever's on offer) but live in a house-share - I pay for my fair share, so I'll use it thank-you-very-much :p
That casharelle (sp) is chronic for blocking your toilet up.

I usually buy 4 rolls of Lidls loo roll for £1.59 and it lasts ages. somethings arent really worth economising on.

If you wash your bum at the sink then what are you going to wipe it on? If you use a towel you'll then have to put that in the washing on a hot wash incase of ecoli. SO if you wiped with toilet roll then you may as well have at the start!

I suspect it would only be women wanting to cut down on it anyway saying as men tend to only use it if they have a poo.

I noticed that on a low carb (keto) diet I needed minimal wipes (without going into detail!)

Always refuse to buy toilet paper unless it is a 'BOGOF' offer! ;)

I fail to see anything slightly amusing on here - it's one of those 'bog standard' threads you come across and you wonder......... why????:D

Oh, I don't know. I quite enjoyed reading it.:)

It just had a sort of 'ring' about it.....

    I'll get me coat....:o
  • Always trying to find the cheapest and quality and what will last...

We bought Supermarket home brands and they were cheap but lasted half the amount of time as the Andrex or other such like brands so we spend a little more and it lasts!

Or even better.... I use the toilets in work, I get paid to empty my bowels, and FREE TOILET PAPER!!!
