On a light note: how long into your relationship untill you got engaged?

We met aged 16 over msn messenger when a mutual friend brought us into a mass discussion with about 7 others. He asked who I was and added me as a contact on msn, and for some reason I accepted the request (although I didn't usually accept semi-strangers...fate perhaps?!)
The first time we met in real life I met all his family and we went to play golf! We were friends for about 2 and a half months, I had a boyfriend at the time. My OH was a bit of an agony uncle with my relationship problems with my ex-boyfriend and we became best friends. He kept saying he had a natural charm and could get pretty much any girl he wanted, and I told him he wouldn't charm me into going out with him!
The day after I broke up with my boyfriend of 14 months, he kissed me and I kissed him back and he said "I guess we're going out now?" and I said "yeah" hahaha
Two and a bit years later (the day after his 19th birthday, I was 18) he proposed to me by a particular tree by the river that we used to meet at/sit by. Until the moment I realised what he was doing, I was quite angry because he'd picked me up from work after a bad day and I'd just wanted to pop across to McDonald's and buy myself a McFlurry to cheer myself up and he hadn't let me...because he just wanted to get me to the tree quickly so he could propose!
Another two and a bit years later we're still very happy together, have just bought our first house and hope to marry in June 2014

Me and my OH met at Ceroc dancing in March last year. Apparently he warned himself off me for looking like a 'wild one'. I was still with my ex of 8 years at the time and just having fun dancing so don't actually remember the dance (not good for the story so far...).

By the next time I saw him I was single, and his smile distracted me from dancing, so we ended up chatting. 6 dates later and still no kiss I was getting highly confused! Did he like me or not?? A few kisses later, we had the let's just be friends chat....again not looking good!

In October I got poorly, so he came round to look after me and we've been together ever since! In the first couple of months engagement came up, and I said I would want a ring and story, and the ring bought from my Dad (he works in the trade) to which the answer was 'I don't see why you need a ring and a story' - what romantic doesn't want a ring and a story??

So on 29th Feb, I decided to have a giggle, I was flying away with work and had to get a taxi at 5am, he got up with me, but by the time he was sitting at the breakfast table my taxi was outside. So I told him to close his eyes and put his hand out. He heard a little plastic rustling and when he opened his eyes he was holding a Haribo ring. "Not quite the ring you were expecting but I thought it might fit" To which I smiled and ran out the door!

One year on from when we 'officially' got together, I know he has the ring (thanks Dad ), and I know he wants to give me my story, and in Nov we've got a trip to Paris planned. All I've said is, please don't do it at the top of the Eiffel Tower! :P

Already started looking at August bank holiday wedding venues - SIL2B has made me worried about availability and I've got family in Canada that I want to come! So that would be 2+ years of knowing each other and under a year of engagement - if it all goes to plan

we met on dating direct, were texting all day everyday, had a date organised and the night before it i was out on a works do and (drunkenly) begged him to come meet me! which he did! We spent the whole night snogging (teehee) we said our goodbyes until the next day which was our first proper sober date.
We dated for about 10 months until i called things off as i had a bad break up a few months earlier and it was getting a bit deep for me. We lost touch for about 6 months then started dating again in feb 2010, got together properly june 2010, moved in together july 2012 and got engaged yesterday!

Me and my better half met in May 2006, we got engaged in the October and are finally getting round to getting married in April next year. I dont think anyone took us seriousley when we first got engaged, Kids ay ;-)

Met in April 2007, declared our love for each other about 2 weeks later. Fell pregnant in nov 07, fell pregnant again June 2010 and I popped the question feb 29th this year. Always knew it would happen but I got bored of waiting lol. We marry Friday 13th sept next year, at which point we will have been together for about 6.5 years

We met through a mutual friend on Facebook, she had thought we had a similar goofy sense of humour and may get on. Apparently she'd shown him a few of my posts and he'd said "I want to meet this woman!", she sent me a message explaining that she knows this man, thinks we'd get on and promised he wasn't a weirdo (she lied ). So after a bit of online chatting we had our first date in September last year, chatted until the pub closed We'd gone to the same secondary school in the same year but didn't know each other back then, lived just one estate away from each other for most of our lives.
It was planned that I'd move in in April, but have been here since February!

He proposed on Friday in the restaurant/pub where we had our first date. It was lovely, I just giggled the whole time to the point where my brain was telling me "this is the point where you're supposed to say yes".
It seems when he'd said he was off to help his sister move furniture, he'd taken her ring shopping with him. On the Tuesday while I was working my late shift he'd called my dad and visited my mum to ask for their blessing.
I asked him how long he'd been planning it, and he just blurted out "since the day I met you".
We're planning to get married in late spring/early summer next year.
