  • Met in early 2000 on a social networking site, by Oct 2000 whilst it sounds not possible we said we were a couple & dating.

From 2000 - Jan 2003 we sent each other snail mail, talked on the phone and emailed each other.

Met in person in Jan 2003 when I flew here from Australia for a 4 week holiday for my 21st. April 2003 I moved here, not knowing anyone but him.

Oct 2006 got engaged, August 2011 at me 29 and him 28 we got married, decided to end my parents & sisters 1st holiday to the UK with our wedding.

I love all these stories! So I'll share mine:

Chris & I met briefly in 2006, then not again until 2007 at a nursing conference (both nurses) where we kissed one night. Met up again the following year at conference, but just as friends. The 2009 conf we became inseparable, best mates and this time kept in touch after the annual conference ended speaking everyday on the phone etc.

He lived in Northern Ireland, me in Yorkshire. He'd been saying for years he wanted to move over to 'the mainland' and came over for an interview in the July and got the job, staying with me for the trip. We went on holiday in the August and by this point I'd fallen in love with him and so told him I wanted to be more than friends on the first night (following lots of dutch courage!). Thankfully he felt the same way :)

He moved over in the October to start his job and wasn't going to move in but his hospital accommodation was dire, so stayed with me for 2 months before finding a place and putting deposit/first month's rent down. The day after he moved out we both missed eachother terribly (sad I know!) so he moved back and we've lived together ever since (except now he pays half the bills etc lol, not rent free as before!!). That was 2009.

He proposed the week before our 2 year anniversary last year - Aug 22nd and we're getting wed in 10 days- 15th Sept. So we'll have known each other 6 years, together 3, engaged 1 :)

We were together for 7 years but had been close friends for at least a year before that. We met at work...in a chip shop. How romantic.
  • We met in August 2011, he moved in with me in March this year and we got engaged in June - 10 months after meeting.

Ironically, both sets of our parents each got engaged 10 months after meeting, and are all still happily married, so that's got to bode well. Getting married on the 1st Feb 2013 and can't wait :j:
  • I've been married twice. The first time I got engaged after six weeks and then married six weeks later (was married 18 years and we are still good friends). The second time I didn't get engaged - after eight years of living together we got married for financial reasons (pensions etc).

Both weddings were very low key: five guests at the first and two witnesses at the second!

We got talking at sixth form over a co-incidence (both our Grandparents live in this tiny little hamlet in Devon- small world!) I was 16, him 17. We had been together 6 years (and few weeks) when he proposed, will have been together over 7 and half years when we marry next month! :D

We met online in March 2007, we're not sure how, I maintain that he sent a "wink" to me, but he says its the other way round. We got chatting online, and in the July we decided to meet up and things went from there. I count from July as that's when we saw each other face to face, so we were together 2 years and 9 months when we got engaged. I'm actually still waiting for him to ask me to marry him, he just told me to go and buy a ring.:D

But we'll have been together 5 years, 2 months and 3 weeks by the time we get married.

What a lovely thread :D I met my hubby to be at work in Feb 2005, we got together in June 2005 and more of less moved in together straight away (its a running joke that he came over one day and just never went home) We got engaged just before our 7 year anniversary this year and get married next August. I can't wait!
