We met when we were both 16 and doing our a levels. We both had boyfriend/girlfriends at the time. Then when we were doing our last year of a levels he asked me out on a date. We had been together for just over 7 years when we got engaged and when we get married we would have been together for 8 and half years.
Love everyone stories.0 -
I have been with H2B for 7 years on Tuesday coming! Been together since I was 14 and will marry when im 23!

We had been together for 4 years exactly when we got engaged! Met at the start of June 2008 and got together officially a few weeks later. We kind if met through a friend but it wasn't a set up and I didn't even know said friend was going to be in the same pub as me that evening. But I got introduced to my now OH and a few others and me and the OH hit it off and spent the rest of the night talking.
I honestly thought I'd probably not hear from him again, but the next morning I wake up to find he'd found me on facebook and wanted my phone number. Been together since!
How about you?
I've been with my SO for 3yrs (as of yesterday!), we originally met online, funnily enough in a chat room (debating *ahem*). We aren't engaged so i'm waiting in wings. He had the cheek to say to me on 29th Feb in the morning that if I asked him to marry me he'd say "yes". Whilst I felt a touch of happiness I really do believe its the guys right to do that bit. He knows i'm itching to get married but at same time I know with him not working and no real way to support me he probably doesn't feel right to ask. I'm hoping all these wonderful stories will prompt the universe to give me some luck0 -
Oh and here's the weird thing of this story. Our first official meet was 2mths later from online to on his parents wedding anniversary! Very scary.0

Hi all,
First post here, looks like a good thread so i'd share my story. Met my g/f 2 years ago on Match. I'm 28 shes 26. I knew her from about 10 years ago as we both worked in the same shop at the time, but different departments. Its funny because that far back i kinda remember her briefly. Anyway I knew her best friend at the time, which i lost touch with . Now back in touch with, which is good as i got along with her well at the time, which is good because she hinted to my gf, i was a good guy to be with (awww)
Found g/f one day on match and winked at her, she winked back and been together ever since. We have loads in common, tv shows, music ( well im working on that, she dont like dance!, urgh) cant win them all. Whats frightening is her mum knows my mum AHHH!!! shes been ok so far!!!
Engagement well im working on it, wanna be debt free first ( dont we all), not massive but would rather clean the slate. Before that happens. Just saying from a online dating view, it does work, patience is virtue. Reading some ideas on here about people's engagement, certainly popped some ideas for future use!!
i,ll keep you updated!0 -
I met my partner at college in 2008, we didn't get together until Nov 09. For Christmas just past he booked us a holiday to New York... for my birthday in June... while in central park on a rowing boat on the pond he proposed!! He had been planning this all along and was planned from last November! We are going back to New York to get married on the 31st of August 2013! Was so romantic and magical most people don't believe me!Virtual sealed pot 2019 member #6 :j

OH and I had been together just over five years when we got engaged (our five year anniversary was a Saturday and he proposed the Tuesday afterwards). We met in October 2006 through a university political society - he was the year above me and I was a fresher coming along to the 'taster' event. I remember thinking he was cute but there was no way he'd ever want to go out with me as I'd spent my teenage years being that girl who had lots of boy friends but never had a boyfriend.
Anyway, I joined the society and we socialised quite a bit through that year, and that spring I noticed that we were doing more stuff together - getting paired up on the same delivery rounds etc - but didn't think much of it. Then he started texting me and we were having lots more chats and time as just the two of us, before eventually ending up getting together at a friend's party about a month afterwards."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Aww l love this thread! Esp those with stories..lovely to read.
Met my other half randomly on holiday (was doing my AOW diving, my original dive buddy was hungover, but invited me out for dinner with some of the group to make up for letting me down on that dive), and from that met my fiance. In all honesty, i thought it was going to be a holiday fling...but 4 n half years later, here we are and a month ago got engaged!
one very happy bunny!
