My h2b and I have been together for 9 years in June and we have set a date for 28th August 2011, which is bank holiday weekend.

We are having a handfasting on the sunday and the register office on the sat with just family and a bbq back at ours

Am I wrong to consider perfume/aftershave gift sets for friends who are helping us out with the wedding ( one is doing hair and one is doing photos)

Also check out Faweather grange for luxury cabins, OH and I decided that there would be 2 areas that we wouldnt save money on ( me bad) wedding rings £230 and our honeymoon so we are spending £400 on 4 days but it is worth it, we havent had a holiday in all the time we have been together, so why not

I managed to get bridesmaid dresses off of ebay for the grand total of £30 including postage,

Flowers for myself in my colours the bridesmaids, and 2 corsages for my mum and my oh sis as his parents have passed away for £56

Pins with roses on for the girls hair £14

My Dress £52.00

Shoes £2.50 ( although these are going back on ebay as 2 small)

Favours for the grand total of 60p per favour.

Any help people can offer with gifts for the helpers would be fantastic

Also I am going to be selling 3 bridemaid dresses i was given, on ebay over the next few days 2 lilac and one dark purple, the lilac ones are brand new with tags and the purple one is as new.

Sorry for the strange way in posting im at work and sneeking a type.....

Aaargh. Sorry! I'm in Kent+we don't wanna spend squillions on our Big Day - maybe £3000-£4000 on the entire thing? But, I have just had a look at venues in Kent+most of them charge around £3500 just for venue hire!?! Aaargh!

Hi There,

We are getting married in 2 weeks in Sri Lanka, but we also live in kent and had similar problems with finding a venue for our welcome home reception. We ended up Booking the Poplar Suite at the Woodlands, which is part of the Swanley Banqueting group. They have different function rooms which are all quite nice and nicer when decorated and also they offere different packages, and I think they are quite competitive. Worth a look. :-)

Hope this helps.

Just to add to my previous post - I was going to go for CD cases but thought the card might feel a bit cheap, so I think I'll probably order these linen ones from PDA Card & Craft. More expensive than the plain CD cases but I think the extra texture and weight will be worth it, and at £54.95 for 100 it's not extortionate.

The site is great - seems to have everything you would ever need to make your own invitations, and if you're going to be spending a bit you can sign up for membership which costs £25, but you then get a 10% discount on orders for the first 12 months (you'd need to work out if your savings would total more than £25 beforehand though!!)

• Hi there,

I'm a writer from Yours magazine and we are looking for a couple who have recently got married, or are due to get married but have done so on a strict budget.
Did you get your dress for Ebay? Have your family pitched in to help with decorations, the cake etc?

If so we'd love to hear from you. Please feel free to email me at claire.williams@bauermedia.co.uk
• I've come to love this company called Bouf.com who source distinctive designer products, great for wedding and birthday gifts. They run a twice weekly email offering design at 50% off or more. Hopefully this helps:

I have spent the last two hours reading through this thread, some of the ideas are absolutely amazing! We are currently looking for a date in September 2011 so will soon have to start putting our money where our hearts are... whilst my fianc!e is in charge of the emotional and stylistic side of things, it will be my job to keep a lid on the money side, will keep you guys posted on the progress. there is a wealth of websites out there that offer products, services and advice at amazing prices so I suppose the job is to single out the genuine ones and skate around the ones that may end up disappointing you.
I get excited about a good deal, bring it on wedding day... !

Hello everyone:wave:

Please can you help with some ideas for gold wrapped sweets other than Frara Roche (sorry can't spell it!) or the hard toffees used to flavour vodka? Am helping to organise a wedding and my bit is to decorate the tables. I'm doing balloons and platters with gold wrapped sweets and jelly beans and a scattering of tiny cupids, hearts and balloon shaped cut outs (raided from my craft box:p)

Cheers:beer:
