Can anyone recommend a photographer in the Birmingham / Warwickshire area? We don't want to spend a fortune on photos and would be interested in employing, say, a student photographer who is building up his/her portfolio. I've seen one advertising on eBay but he (she?) lives too far away for it to be a moneysaver!0

Hiya Lynne,
I'll send you an e-mail about a photographer.
Speak to you soon,

My fiancee & I are getting married in February next year and we have most things in place with the exception of the photographer.
Can anyone recommend a photographer in the Chesterfield / Derbyshrie area? Our budget is £450-500.
Many thanks

I've asked before but on a different thread...does anyone know of a Monsoon Factory Shop (ie Monsoon dresses discount prices). I have read about it on another website/other threads, and they said there was one in Hampshire. I 've searched google, to no avail. It would be greeeaaattt if anyone could shed any light on this phantom shop?0

Try here for the monsoon store finder: http://www2.monsoon.co.uk/findastore.htm
or try searching for "monsoon factory outlet" on Google.

I'm making my own invitations and I think I may have just spent loads more than I had to at Hobbycraft (you know the one with the annoying advert).
It has cost me £185 so far for:
80 cards for day invitations just smaller than A4 (already folded which will cost me more I know but not sure if I can trust myself top fold them myself) 37p each
60 smaller sized cards for evening invitation (35p each)
Envelopes for day invitations - 33p
Envelopes for evening - 27p each
Blue card for decoration on front of card - 15p (I needed 135 of these - they can be cut in two for the display on the front)
Pink card for decoration on front of card - 65p for each sheet of A4, which can be cut into 8 and they only had 25 (I need 35)
Stamp (to stamp a heart-shape on the front) - about a fiver
Ink - also about a fiver
Scissors to cut the card with a jagged edge - £6
Sticky pads to stick the card on the front - £5
Embossing powder - £7
A big box to keep them all in - £10 (but may take this back)
I reckon it is going to cost me near to £1 per card and when there are 140 invites and 130 order of service that comes to a lot!
Do you think the cost of the card is too much or is that pretty standard? I think it is too much and now I am stressed.
I didn't even get allI needed to - I haven't got the card for order of service yet (that is 65p a sheet - £84.50 :o) or the place cards.
Surely you can buy stuff cheaper elsewhere - I could take all this stuff back if someone can suggest somewhere else to go. Help!
I am in the northwest: Liverpool, Manchester, Preston if that helps!I'm married now! Yippee!0 -

Wow! Thank you so much Sally. That Mad about cards site is great, I reckon I can make everything for under £50! And I reckon it will look more professional. I am going to get white card and stick a silver padded heart on and a 'wedding invitation' sticker.
I am going back to Hobbycraft quick smart to get my £180 back!!!
And I am nominating you for most useful post of the month.
Thanks!I'm married now! Yippee!0 -
The Monsoon with discount bridal wear in Hampshire is at Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth.
Details: http://www.gunwharf-quays.com/Shop_Details-204.htm
Last time I went there (in June) they had about 15 wedding dresses but might be worth giving them a call to see what they have in before a special trip.
Hope this helps0 -
You can probably save a lot of money if you get your card from a Stationery Wholesaler. There is a stationery supply shop in the town I live in that sells a rream of A4 card for 5.99 for 200 sheets. it is 160gsm thick which means I can put it through my printer. I am going to use a gullotine at work to cut the card in 2 - you can get 2 x A5 cards out of an A5 sheet and will use the same card for orders of service. For the handmade design on the front of the card, I bought some coloured card from an art shop and am cutting out love hearts to stick on top of 3 squares in a different colour/texture. This is costs another fiver. It is time consuming but also very enjoyable - especially at night with hubby to be in front of the telly. I used clip art on word to find a love heart shape to use as a stencil.
Enjoy!
Could do with some advice re. ballooons. I'd like to find a supply of metallic round coloured balloons - anyone know of a cheap mail order supplier perhaps?Me debt free thanks to MSE :T0
