Hi, I don't live in gretna but I am going through to look at some places on wednesday as I am visiting my parents who live in Dumfries and Galloway. I did get a great wee booklet from the registry with some contacts;
HAIR AND MAKE-UP - Fiona and June (have a web page with prices); Completebride mobile hair and beauty , HYPE Hair and beauty, The Salon Gretna.
FLORISTS - Dont have much info on florists yet I have looked at Blooms florist (Dumfries) on web and have a number for Garden wise florists in Annan 01461 204561, gretna wedding flowers on web,
PIPER - not having one myself but there are a couple of numbers in the book ,
Gretna green piper 01461 201204, Alan Marshal 01228 402941,
I hope this is some help but I have not yet used any of these services. May be of more help after wednesday when I will be going to a few florists and hopefully booking my hairdresser.

Forgot to say I ordered my dress today not very MSE as it is the most expensive one I have tried but it is the one! and mum is paying (so moneysaving for me not so much for her!) although I did offer to pay half as it is a tad more expensive than we were expecting.
We also went to look at bridesmaid dresses today and found a style that everyone liked so deposit has been put down on them :j thats the dresses sorted just 101 other things to get organised now!!!0 -
Well done Shelley100 -I'm freaking out about the dress, personally. The bridesmaid dresses are for next week.i am getting married in April and have just found out that my bridesmaid will be 8 months pregnant on the day!!! anyone have any ideas for a budget maternity bridemaid dress?
maccaandclare - this may sound horrendous on here, but how do I find promo codes for places?"I am indelibly stained by hope and longing" - Nuts in May0 -

kimbodia0 - the only thing I could suggest for your mother-to-be bridesmaid is to try out a dressmaker and see how much they'd make a dress for. Or get some kindly relative/friend to make one to a pattern? Or just search the maternity sections (particularly around Christmas) for a party/evening dress in the right colour for your scheme? Good luck!

hi there is a section on this website on the forums but just do what i do, type into google what your looking for ie simply yours promotional codes and just click on some of the links. Some codes dont work but for example, i was ordering something over £70 and spent ages trying all the codes and the last one worked and saved £30! so its def worth trying!

Hi,
I've just picked up my wedding ring online in a sale from http://www.weddingrings-direct.com
Before deciding to buy I was able to get an exact replica of the ring sent to me for £9.
Highly recommended....

Monstaswifey wrote: »I got married in September last year and saved a packet by researching and doing lots of stuff myself and utilising cashback sites and ebay - so here's some top tips which I hope help:-
1. Buy your wedding rings from America - the exchnage rate is fantastic and they are half price compared with here. Ebay seller artebarca( 3502) is fab and ours were perfect and £150 for 2!
2. Wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses - I visited all the high street shops and boutiques, chose what I wanted (combination of 3 dresses) and had a place in the Far East make to our actual measurements! Scarey but I saved £1750 and only had to spend £100 for a local dressmaker to do a few amends over the 4 dresses and they were stunning - email me if you want contacts and pics.
3. Invites - get someone on ebay to do them but get samples and negotiate them to do everything - place cards, thank you cards, invites, husband card for the day etc etc - mine were beautiful and all under £100. Again email me if you want details.
Cake - I cannot cook to save my life so made individual wedding cakes for everyone and bought little boxes off ebay and personalised ribbon (ebay again). Bought cake from M&S, small round cake cutter and iced with black icing (homemade via ebay) and piped on white letters and white ribbon. They looked stunning and taked yum!
Favours and treats - got personalised lollies from ebay for the kids, lovehearts from their shop online (personalised) and individual personalised port - worked really well and gave everyone something to take home as a momento.
Made my decs myself - ordered silk flowers and leaves from ebay wholesaler along with black candles and table sprinkles - all ebay again !!!!
Photographs - big tip - contact your local university to see if they do a photography course - if so email them asking if any 2nd or 3rd year students want to do a wedding case study. Offer a cash incentive and payment of costs - we got everything done including 600 professional photo's for less than £250. The other bonus is you can negotiate to own your copyright so can do what you like with the prints and keep them forever and get re-prints at cost! Saved £100's
I've got loads more ideas if anyone's interested and lots of contacts.
I have a wire bouquet which was stunning with matching tiara she made specially so email me if you want any contact or further info or photo's!!!
I hope it helps and good luck to all you brides - don't get stressed out - enjoy and relish every second because its all over far too soon and your life has a huge void!!!
Hi Monstaswifey,
I was really interested in reading your posting and would be very appreciative if you could share your contact details/photos for the dresses you had made in the far east- what a clever idea..!!!
I am hoping to get married next July (currently trying to find venue) and am planning on having 3 bridesmaids and would like to save costs where possible but not at the expense of quality, so I would be pleased in checking out your contacts...
Thanks
This is my first posting on the forum and would like to wish you all lots of love, happiness and good luck in your forthcoming nuptials...!! And to all those who are now married, may all your dreams come true...0
