  • That silk flower website is GORGEOUS! What a fabulous idea. I'm thinking of choosing some flowers in John Lewis/Hobbycraft and asking my local florist or florist friend to arrange them for me. I might go on a short course in flower arranging and do them myself...
Or get cheaper silk bunches from here:

Though they don't look as lovely!

Hey L Lo thanks for that wicked link to the silkweddingdesigns, they have amazing flowes. I think i will def get something from there as I have been quoted £70 just for my boquet and want to keep it and not have it dead in a couple of days!! Oh and its half the price too!

    Thanks agaiN!

Anytime. Because I have a small wedding I'm going for one of the bridesmaid posys for myself. £25, you can't go wrong.

They also sell flowers in sixes I think so you can always make your own up.

  • I have seen the wedding rings we want and they cost £1100 for both in Beaverbrooks although I don't want to pay so much.

So does anyone have any ideas about what to say to get a discount. Should I say I can only afford a certain amount and if so what would be a reasonable amount.

Try what i did with my wedding dress. I said I was on a tight budget and had seen a dress that was £100 cheaper and It was going to be a choice between the two. I told the woman that I was slightly leaning to the cheaper one cause of the price and she said that If i pay the full amount for the dress she would give me a free flowergirl dress for my daughter worth £100!

    Or try this scenario:
I really like the rings but I am on a tight budget. Pause and wait and see what he offers. If he knocks a hundred off say you could only really go to £600. (I know this is a lot lower but he will try and meet you nearer).
He might then say £900 then you come up to £700 and so on till you get a good price!

I hope you get a bargin!
Let us know how you get on! :A

  • I don't know if they would have much leeway with price in Beaverbrooks as it's a chain.

Could you get it made by an independent jeweller? Or have you shopped round to see if you can get it any cheaper anywhere else?
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p
  • we got married last year and it only cost £750 total

we went to register office with 2 witnesses and baby daughter went for a drink after and meal them went home took off rings and wedding clothes as we hadn`t told anyone not even our other 5 kids (were waiting till they were all together) told family at husbands dad's 60th party next night and had a party for us a month later in Nov

Maybe you could ask if they would give you an offer since you were buying both rings at the same place.

  • hello all, this thread is super thanks to everyone! ive just started to arrange our wedding for sometime next summer and we've fallen in love with a venue for the reception which is perfect, affordable and lets us decorate and cater as we want (as well as letting us get in there for the three days before so no rushing!) however we're struggling to find somewhere affordable for the actual ceremony, none of the registry offices have a large enough capacity (we want all 80 of our guests to be able to attend both parts as it'll be a longish journey for all of them) and the churches we fell in love with require you to be part of their parish and we arent (our 'parish' is too far away), otherwise we dont seem to be able to find anywhere that doesnt expect you to also hold your reception there and to charge a huge amount. Does anybody have any ideas of how we can get around this or venue ideas? i'd be so grateful! the reception venue is near farnham in surrey so anywhere in that sort of area would be brilliant! thank you!

Have you asked a few independant places how much it would be to make the same/similar thing?
