I went to a wedding yesterday.

All the tables were named after local beaches instead of numbered and had a photographe of that beach. The centre pieces were a pile of pebbles with a few tea-lights and silver heart confetti amongst them. They looked fab and were collected free from the beaches and washed by some children.

Ah it's lovely to have a theme, that sounds really nice.

We're having themed tables as well as we're getting married on Midsummer's Day and my hubby to be and I are both actors, so our tables will be named after characters from A Midsummer's Night Dream. There will be no "top" table but there will be a Bottom one! :rotfl:

I have been pointed in the direction of this thread by someone on another forum I go on.

My fiancé (still seems weird saying that) proposed to me the weekend before last and we have already started making plans for our wedding – looking for venue, deciding on date etc.

I am slowly reading through this thread bit by bit. It’s going to take some time as it is really long but already I have got some really good ideas from it.

There are certain areas which I know we can save quite a bit on and this will mean we can spend a bit more on the stuff we don’t want to cut corners on. It’s our special day and even though we aren’t scrimping totally we still want to make sure it’s a lovely day but that the costs don’t spiral out of control.

I’m sure I will become a regular visitor to this thread from now on :D

We are doing ok at the moment – a friend of mine has offered to make our favours, another friend has offered to do all the hair and make up, my mum does flower arranging so I’m going to ask her to do my flowers and the bridesmaids flowers I think and as my fiancé DJ’s we know lots of people to do our reception.

Here's a tip for cheap, but interesting Save The Dates.

Get some magnetic paper - Google it, about £2 an A4 sheet - and design your Save the Date in Word or something.
Then just print it out on the magnetic paper and cut them out.
You can get 8 or 10 on a sheet, and they'll be exactly what you want.

Hey Presto, Save the Date magnets!

We did this, and everybody said they were great, they had them on the fridge!

My daughter is getting married in Sept. They are having a really short engagement as they only decided 3 weeks ago.

We have been doing weekly facials and will carry on until a week before the wedding. We didn't want to wait until the week before do our facial and then be covered in spots.

We have been steaming our faces (towel over the head, over a bowl of boiling water, not a lovely facial steamer!) adding a drop of lavender essential oil.

    Then using cleanser and toner.

    Then exfoliater.

    Then face mask.

Then a good clean up and lots of moisturiser.

It has been a real treat and good fun as well.

John Lewis are currently doing 50% off certain styles of Rainbow Club wedding shoes. I just bought mine from the Oxford street branch and they are soooooooo comfortable.

I bought Miranda from the Bliss range which have extra padding and also a polycotton insole so that they are very comfortable indeed. I would highly recommend them as I am not a heels girl at all and have just managed to buy a pair with 2 1/2 heels which feel like heaven! :D
