I've come across a site called bridalonlinestore.com it has a range of dresses on sale just now and as it is in America your kind of paying half price with the exchange rate just now also i got a tiara worth $149 for 1c as i spent $399. In total it worked out £240ish for brand new dress, tiara plus shipping. There communication is fab too. They have some beautiful dresses. Anyway hope this helps someone.

im also lucky enough to have friend in dressmaking for £30 is adjusting the dress and making the garter

invites we designed and printed oursellves

the only real expenditure will be a car http://www.dplimos.readywebsites.com/Home.html we are having the dodge charger- some companies will do a deal for cash Im saving about £50 plus our wedding is midweek which helps on cost.

if people have asked us for list for gifts we have just replied that we have things we need as already home set up and are asking for money towards the set up of wedding or towards a honeymoon next year.

If like me you know the ppl in the trades you can get things done cheaply- we are having a registry office and in total a rough estimate of the cost of the wedidng and reception i just under /over £1000. now thats what i call a wedding on a budget...

  • Hi Everyone,
I just got engaged yesterday, and am 4 1/2 months pregnant, so am looking to get married late next year. Can I just ask - if you want to get married somewhere, do you have to choose somewhere that has a marriage license?
I'd like to get married in a marquee in a park or garden. Would we have to have a register office 'do' first and then a civil ceremony?

    Thanks

If you're getting married in Yorkshire you'll have to do it in a place with a licence but if you go a few hours north up to scotland you can get married anywhere (if religious ceremony) and in a lot of "approved venues" which don't have to be inside like in England and Wales..... have just found out you can get married anywhere at all in new zealand but that might be a bit too far from Yorkshire!

doesn't have to be a registry do.
try this company for you big civil ceremony and just do quiet registry do after
    http://www.civilceremonies.co.uk/wc1.htm
    ceremonies cost about £250
give them a ring as wesite a bit confussing lady i spoke too was very helpfull
can make the ceremony personal to you and they will perform wedding in your home in a garden local park even on a boat.
    hope this helps
  • I'm very much in the planning stages, but am looking into hiring large holiday accommodation. Have found a place in Devon which sleeps 70 and has enough space to cope with a large amount of guests! It is also licensed for civil wedding ceremonies so no need to leave the venue! That means a saving for the cars. It has an impressive garden, and is available for 3500 for a week (less for a long weekend). This allows total freedom when it comes to decoration, food, booze, YOU decide when the DJ finishes(!) and your guests can stay overnight, meaning everyone can enjoy the wedding for a whole weekend, not just for one day. we're going to asking for a donation from guests for B&B at their discretion, rather than a wedding pressie, and we're probably going to go for a BBQ/hog roast and some gazebos and tables erected in the garden. This place even has its own bar! How cool is that?!! There's plenty of choice for large, self catering accommodation across the country, so another idea to think about when it comes to venues!

That sounds great! If you don't mind me asking, where is it?

    Speckled Egg
  • No worries speckled egg - place is called Colehayes Park, link: www.colehayes.co.uk. Look for pics under 'wedding' and 'seasons' sections (check out the lake!), but booking and further pics are at www.helpfulholidays.co.uk, property ref: A133. Helpful holidays have a few other large houses for rent, but not sure where they stand on weddings.

Let me know what you think!
