A couple of tips i can think of:
Check how much alterations to dresses will be I was shocked to find out how much it was to alter the bridesmaids dresses, you might be able to get a reputable dress maker locally to do it cheaper instead fo the dress shop.
I got a child’s bridesmaid dress half price in the Monsoon sale! Very handy.
Don’t get "the nearly the one" dress. I felt guilty about the cost of my dress originally (before I did the below) and bought a cheaper but beautiful designer sample off ebay - but it wasn't “the one” - so I in the end I sold the first one and did get the one I want. It's your wedding day and you'll never have another day like it so you don’t want to feel “oh I should have got that dress instead” it’s false economy.
If you shop around and find the dress you like - note the designer and the name and Google it - I found an online dress supplier and got my dress less than half price and had it altered locally for about £30. It saved me over £400 and I still had the dress i fell in love with.
See if you have any talented friends or friends Mum’s - I paid £50 for a 2 tier huge chocolate wedding cake made by the mum of a girl I work with, it was amazing. In addition we asked the hotel to provide a raspberry coulis and ice cream/cream and had it for desert -–saving even more money.
You can get wedding stationery kits for a bit of DIY, which can save a fortune.
Alternatively if you have an arty pal – they might chip in to help with stationery or calligraphy sometimes even as a pressie!
Paper flowers especially roses can be bought quite cheaply and used to make table decorations / garlands which are much cheaper than fresh flowers.
“Wedding ideas” is a wedding magazine full of tips and is not aimed at those buying vera wang, it’s handbag size and costs around £2 so at least half the price of many other magazines.
Do you known anyone who married recently – can you steal their stash of wedding magazines?
You can buy a lot of items from ebay – I got a veil that should have been over £100 for £25 on ebay brand new.
Don’t forget to borrow something – I recently leant my ivory handbag to a friend for her something borrowed.
My wedding cost less than £6000
hope some of this helsp someone!

Hiya,
I need some help (again) with what to wear as a guest to a wedding (now 2 weddings - but don't mind wearing the same thing). I've been into town today and went everywhere to look for a dress but I couldn't find anything I liked, or even anything that didn't look like 70s wallpaper designs.Don't know if it was cause I don't normally wear dresses, but nothing looked plain & simple that would go with a nice pair of heels & something to cover up my tattoos.
I have no idea what to wear apart from to start looking for a trouser suit which I really wanted to avoid.
Does anyone have any ideas where else I can look? I went to debenhams, BHS, monsoon .... just about all the clothes shops in town

Hi Vickitoria My £50 dress is http://www.ribbonsandpearls.co.uk/catalogue/wedding_dresses/rap351_400/rap00391.htm (the website says that all their dresses are usually 50% below shop prices so its likely my dress was as much as £1500+ !!!!
The skirt is exactly what I wanted. I didnt think black lace was really me as I was planning on having a deep red bodice but I have fallen in love with it now (the price really helps for a skinflint like me!) and if I decide its not for me I can always re-ebay it or even modify the bodice and keep the skirt. I will probably chop the train off as I can't deal with trains.
I also brought an acid free box with acid free tissue paper (important so dress doesnt go yellow) from ebay for £5 so that was a bargain so storage is sorted.
Oh and Catz try ebay for clothes- I have found loads of unusual things that I love including an incredible fascinator for a fraction of the price.
I also am off to a few weddings at the minute and I brought my dress in Monsoon in a retail village (Clarks Village in Street, Somerset) I couldnt find a pic as it was last season but it was £50 and its indigo silk strapless embroidered bodice with full silk knee length skirt. Where are your tattoos? could you cover them up with a wrap?0 -
Thanks, Im going to check ebay now but I've looked there before. My tattoos are on my left upper arm so I only need to wear a wrap, or I was going to wear a long sleeved short jacket.0

Bargain. there's loads of other things on there.Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0

I bought our wine the other day from tesco online: 30 bottles of their french table wine for £69.01! It was on offer and there was a £15 off voucher on the online discount voucher section of the site. There are now only 28 bottle left, as we had to try it. It isn't the best wine ever, but it is fine, we finished the bottles of both!
Champagne is probably on offer too, but we got ours from Sainsburys at Xmas.0
