awww i really think its worth cutting out the things you dont really *need* and having a honeymoon instead

no one will remember the fireworks etc in months to come after the big day,but you and your H2B will always remember your honeymoon !

I definitely agree with that Rachie, we have decided on a medieval theme wedding in a Scottish castle in 2008 which will cost us more than we originally intended, but I am still budgeting for a honeymoon, even if it's just a week in Scotland. I strongly believe we should have some 'us' time straight after the wedding or we will really regret it. We will then save to go abroad on a fab holiday the following year for our first anniversary.

    Morning everyone.

I have already posted on the old style board but just want to tell everyone!!! We booked our wedding on Thursday night. It isn't untill 28th June 2008 but lots to plan as there are at least 120 people on the list so far. I also have a lot of weight to loose before then.
We have been engaged for 2 years now but we wanted to wait until our daughter was old enough to be a proper little bridesmaid walking down the aisle (can't wait to see her that day)

Also we are hopeing to have a cruise to Alaska for our honeymoon, we are very lucky that we do not have to pay for any of the wedding just the honeymoon (any tips on websites to book on)
Has anyone been there? it looks amazing, not sure what it is going to cost us we are just going to save as much as we can, we've got £3500 so far.
  • Ok so i have tried to cut down my budget abit so that anything left over goes towards a honeymoon...this is where i am at now!

    Hi,

Can anyone suggest an idea for a short honeymoon? We are having civil ceremony in the end of December in my home country and flying back next day.
I wanted to surprise my H2B with a weekend away. I thought about booking a hotel for the first weekend in January, go to a nice restaurant. Can anyone suggest nice place that would be something else to see around? He loves hiking – but I can’t stand it, so no Peak District or similar. I would like to go to Cotswolds, but it seems to be quite expensive. I wouldn’t mind a nice B&B or guest house. We live in Midlands, but we don’t mind travelling. Although, maybe not to Cornwall… I don’t want to spend 4 -5 hours in car each way.
I can’t spend a lot – maybe £100-£150. We could leave on Friday, but need to be back on Sunday evening.

    Can anyone help me, please?...

    Cars limo-Car from W.venue to hotel 150.00

Have you thought of hiring an executive taxi instead of a limo? They may be cheaper, and you can have a nice merc, jag, BMW, depending on what they have and what you want.
Or (even better) do as I'm doing and rope in a friend with a nice car. My colleagues husband is driving me in his classic car. A something minx.....???

He's even gonna find himself some sort of chauffeur's hat!

Well done for the big savings!
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

have you got any friends/family that are talented in any areas?
my aunt did the flowers as our gift
my bro's friend did DJ - just needed lights
we got a lovely book and my sisters friend to write a lovely message in caligraphy- cost £5 and is really pretty!
tiara-you can get them a lot cheaper! mine was my something borrowed! and i think BHS start from £20...
dress i agree with, but shop around you'l be surprised how little thay can cost!
gifts= we had our own house by then and asked for money, we had a lovely poem which i shall route out for you. you could use that for a honeymoon or ask for gift vouchers from a travel agents then you could go away!

    most importantly enjoy the day!!

    poem is
if a gift you'ld like to bring
then cash or cheque would be the thing
we have a house and contents
so in our case it makes more sense!

no-one minded at all and a few peolpe have used for their own weddings
it also helped that as we were getting married in ireland we didnt have to pay to have our pressies shipped over here!
we were able then to get tings we really needed for the house and e used some of the money towards a new kitchen!

Family is quite small, so we will be doing alot between ourselves and friends. We are just plugging in an ipod to an amp for our DJ. Think we will ask for a book as a present. To be honest the tiara's i have seen seema little tacky, hence why i have put quite a bit into the budget for one, would like a swavoski one as i know i would wear it again later on.
We plan on aksing friends to buy travel vouchers as we will have lived together for 3 and a bit years : )

Just trying to plan as much as possible to make it perfect!
