On Your Wedding Day
Author Unknown
Today is a day you will always remember
The greatest in anyone's life
You'll start off the day just two people in love
And end it as Husband and Wife
It's a brand new beginning the start of a journey
With moments to cherish and treasure
And although there'll be times when you both disagree
These will surely be outweighed by pleasure
You'll have heard many words of advice in the past
When the secrets of marriage were spoken
But you know that the answers lie hidden inside
Where the bond of true love lies unbroken
So live happy forever as lovers and friends
It's the dawn of a new life for you
As you stand there together with love in your eyes
From the moment you whisper 'I do'
And with luck, all your hopes, and your dreams can be real
May success find it's way to your hearts
Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys
But today is the day it all starts.0 -

Went to a wedding last week. The hotel forgot to put out the favours and no one noticed so obviously not required. It was an early wedding and a long day. Go for a late afternoon wedding and then you can just party in the night with a more informal meal.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

Pronuptia in Bristol are having a sale on the 20th August to sell off their old stock, some of the dresses have been reduced from over £1500 to under £300. May well be worth having a look. Presumably their other branches will do something similar as well.0

Hey everyone - this is my first post!
I'm getting married May 5th next year (a year to the day that my OH proposed) and the best thing that we have done in our (barely started) preparations so far is to book the wedding for 4 o'clock ceremony. We were really stressing on the choice of all of our family for the day and an extra 2 and a half grand on the price or saving the money but losing out on the family presence. We were torn because half of the family we really wanted there, and half we (I) hardly ever see.
When we realised (through this forum) that a four o'clock wedding would mean we were only paying for one lot of food we realised that we could invite whoever we wanted to the day because it wouldn't add to the price! Perfect.
I've got loads of great ideas from this forum (even though it's taken me aaaaaages to get through it) so thanks everyone.:beer:Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
congrats
& welcome to the site
whereabouts are you getting married ?0 -
De Courceys in Pentyrch near Cardiff.
Venue is something we are prepared to pay for, but when visiting the venues we decided on there and it is quite reasonable too! (though not as cheap as a registry office/church I'm sure).
We loved it for being so relaxed. Other places made us feel like our wedding would be exactly the same as the wedding the previous week, and the week before....
Due to the place being so relaxed they are happy for us to have our 4 o clock wedding, and when we said we wanted the guests to have some cheap food while we were having our photos done they said we could have peanuts and crisps if that was what we really wanted!
We're looking for a photographer now. Anyone got any recommendations for the south wales area? Again, we're prepared to pay, but would rather not start to reach the dizzy heights of a grand and a half. The best quality/price comprimise I've seen so far is £750 or £1000 if I want the photos on CD too.
Also they all offer different amounts of photos etc. What's the expected amount?
ThanksAm not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o0 -
ooh ive just looked it up on the net,it gets very good reviews
TBH we werent *that* bothered about photos as lets be honest they get put in an album and after the first yr of marriage dont really bother getting them out much lmao
we went with pendragon photography
and had this £700 package which includes video (which we do watch often lol its fab ) http://www.pendragonuk.co.uk/offer.asp price is still the same 2 yrs on !!!0 -
Anyone used Debenhams Wedding List Service? I am finding them pretty useless so far.
Registered my wedding date and it said someone would contact me. No-one did but it also said you couldn't register your list until 3 months before so I figured maybe someone would contact me just before then.
I'm one week into the 3 months now and want to finish my invites. My understanding is they give you a card of something to put in the invites (I know John Lewis do because a couple of friends used John Lewis recently). I need to confirm my numbers minimum 6 weeks before the wedding so want to get the invites out !
Still no contact from Debenhams so I tried online. The site just sent me in circles for about 1/2 day but I did eventually get to the bit where it said I couldn't post a list until my host store had been in contact. I am assuming my host store is Bristol as its the nearest but they haven't confirmed that as I haven't heard anything from them
I emailed them via their website and 5 days later still no response.
I went with Debenhams because it said you got a £50 voucher but it seems they don't want my custom
Anyone else had problems. Or should I have done something else they aren't telling me
Maybe I should phone Bristol and ask but I'm losing faith in their service (or lack of) rapidly so am not sure if its worth while. If they are this bad so soon how can I be sure their list service is any better?I live in my own little world. But it's okay. They know me here.0
