We got 20 large prints in an album, then everything else on a CD included in the package we chose.

We then printed off requests from relatives after their had viewed the CD!

Try ebay for wedding photographers in your area or ones that will travel, and you're right to go for a style you like over price.

Photos on CD is confusing, it is used as a replacement for proofs - the images are made to be viewed and not printed from. To have a CD of printable images you would need the copyright to them which maybe included in the price of the photography or maybe extra.

You'll need the image files to be high resolution so that you can order large prints from your local snappy snaps up to 16x12 say without loss of quality but at a fraction of the photographer's reprint prices.

Just having the photography and a CD is very popular but having any additional prints on top is a waste of your money because once you have the CD you can print any enlargements you want - so why pay inflated photographer's prices?

What is everyone's 'honest' opinion on Gretna Green. I am looking at a package that includes EVERYTHING. Basically all we need to do is turn up in our outfits with the rings. This is costing £2800. We're planning on imediate family only. Then having a big party/reception a few days later.

But i don't know if Gretna is a little 'tacky'???

Gretna Green is a lovely place to get married. I would recommend the traditional Blacksmith's shop as the perfect romantic venue. I was worried that it would be tacky but it wasn't - I just felt really special!

Certainly with regards to money saving it is cheaper to get married there and have reception at a local hotel.

The Garden House Hotel is lovely and they also provide the majority of 'extras' without charging the premium fee! They can provide cake, wedding car, hair and make-up, food ,drinks, free evening entertainment etc. etc. The food there is lovely.

I've seen various photographers now and enquired about acquiring CDs to be used as negatives. The odd one had the CD included in the price, but the others seem to want £200 - £250 for it.
This is quite a lot of money, but I personally am happier to have the control that having the printable CD gives me.
I think I've found a photographer that I like BTW - not extremely MSE I'm afraid, at £1200 once I've paid the £200 for the CD, but I really like his style and he's available for May.
Just got to go meet him now, to check that we get on. My photographer friend has reliably informed me that he can be the best photographer in the world, but if I don't like his personality we won't click and the photos will suffer.

    EDIT
BTW, I can't remember the exact prices I saw for alterations in Pronuptia, but I remember thinking they looked extortianate!!
Will I be better off going to an independent seamstress? Any recommendations for a good one in the Cardiff area?

Shop around for photographers. Ours was £175 for 20 large prints, an album and the rest on a CD that we can print from.

That covered the photographer taking pics of hubby arriving, me arriving, pics after the ceremony, pics with the cake at the hotel and pics in the hotel gardens.

    hello

I'm just starting to plan my wedding and have found the perfect dress http://www.lindsayfleming.com/janel.htm

Does any one know of any very similar dresses that are a lot cheaper, I really don't think my budget will reach nearly £2000 for wedding dress LOL.
    cheers in advance

    How about this freya?
This was about £500 I think in my local bridal shop - and it looked stunning! The back is particularly gorgeous...
