  • I am getting married to the lovely Lisa this July, and for part of our wedding favours we were thinking of giving Macmillan Cancer Relief Pin bages and donating the money. We just thought it would be nicer to raise some money (as small as it is) rather than spend loads on something many won't appreciate, especially as we have lost so many loved ones to cancer already.

That's a really nice idea

You could maybe put collecting tins or envelopes or something discreetly on the tables for guests who would like to donate too.
Here I go again on my own....

Why not go the whole hog and put a note in with invitations saying no gifts please but there will be a donation to a charity would be appreciated. Friends have done this a lot recently for their bashes. Tried to persuade my niece but she's having none of it. She wants pressies!!!

I am starting to look properly in October - i want to cover my arms, I know I can get a shrug/shawl but finding a dress with sleeves is pretty tricky.
have you tried some of the goths wedding dress sites ( not as drastic as it sounds honest) they have some beautiful dresses and much more choice of sleeved ones, worth a look ( thay are not all balck and red either!!!)

    Hello,

We are planning our wedding for August next year and are about to book the venue. However, before we do I want to sort out some wedding insurance. I got a leaflet for insurance from Country Mutual Insurance through the venue hire place, and have also looked at M&S.

The only thing is, I'm not sure where to look to compare insurance policies, as moneysupermarket don't do it, and it wouldn't be very MSEish of me not to even try!

Has anyone had experience of a really good wedding insurance policy? We're probably going to end up spending around £10k in total, so I'm not sure what level of cover to go for?

    Thanks!

This question comes up all the time! And there is no definitive answer, it all depends on the level of cover you want. I ended up checking out the main competitors (M&S, Debenhams, Confetti, there are others too, try googling wedding insurance) and checking out their t&c's. Most offer more than one plan (silver, gold, platinum etc) and summarise the cover each plan offers in a table. I found that the actual t&c's varied little between policies. In the end i went for the basic debenhams policy, but my wedding will cost less than yours. Congratulations and good luck!

Shanna - good luck finding a dress with sleeves! Finding a dress with shoulder straps was hard enough. There are so many bustier styles out there, and I didn't want a dress with no shoulder straps on.

I know its so weird that they think women suddenly want to bare their arms, like you say every single dress seems to be strapless. I need a bit of extra support from a bra so need straps at the very least, plus I hate my arms so want them covered.
