I just want to say a big thanks to the poster who mentioned the 3 for 2 on M&S cakes.
My wedding isn't until September but after reading that I went into my local M&S today to enquire about cakes. I was going to get them from there anyway but now seemed like a good time!

The really helpful lady told me about the 3 for 2 and said if I paid for them now I could have them at the offer price. The not so helpful computer system wouldn't let her do it though. So, not to be defeated, she put the collection date as far ahead as the computer would allow and then put a note in her own diary to keep moving the date back for me as the computer would allow. She promised to do this for me but said if I wanted to check back with her from time to time that would be fine and she wouldn't feel like i was checking up on her. She was so helpful it makes a change for shop staff to be like that!

So i bought an extra large sponge, a large fruit and a medium sponge for just under £60, saving me £20 (i think!)

I also ordered my wedding dress from Ebay today and I'm all excited!!!! its this one here.... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WG0537-NANETTE-MILLY-BRIDAL-WEDDING-GOWN-SIZE-2-30_W0QQitemZ8283925479QQcategoryZ63851QQssPageNameZWD2VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I am starting to look properly in October - i want to cover my arms, I know I can get a shrug/shawl but finding a dress with sleeves is pretty tricky.

    That's a lovely dress poppycat.

Shanna - good luck finding a dress with sleeves! Finding a dress with shoulder straps was hard enough. There are so many bustier styles out there, and I didn't want a dress with no shoulder straps on.

    Idea for table decs:

Rather than expensive table decorations, I bought 3 glass candle sticks and dinner candles from here:
    http://www.thecandlelightcompany.co.uk/

I put them in the centre of the table, the sprinkled round the with a bag of star shaped foil confetti. As is was a wedding on Easter Saturday, I also scattered small foil covered chocolate eggs. As an alternative you could use other types of sweets, or my cousin used those coloured glass pebbles you use in floral decorations.

Picture is the table is the one where the 3 children sat, so they also had a gold Easter bunny for favours!

After the meal, I gave the sets of candlesticks away to the mothers instead of buying the traditional boquets. As we married away from home, both mothers agreed flowers wouldn't have lasted a night in a hotel room, then a car journey home, and both were happy with a more lasting memento of the day.
Here I go again on my own....

Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
    Are thinking of you today.

We are getting married on June 1st this year. We decided at Easter and arranged everything in less than a week. We have been together for 13 years. I thought it would never happen.

The reg office were very helpful ( it will be a Thursday so they aren't busy)
We are having drinks and wedding cake in our garden ( weather permitting)
Then in the evening we are going to the restaurant at Leicester City Football club with 35 people to have a celebration meal.
When i booked the meal I didn't mention the "W" word and they gave me very good price for a 3 course meal.

There are 6 children(aged 1-10) coming to the meal so instead of favours for everyone, i have bought small DUPLO and LEGO set for the kid to play with whilst the they are waiting for the food.

My mum has made a fruit cake and i iced it yesterday.
    The dress is from debenhams.
No cars . No official photos.

Hopefully will come in at around £1600

Please can you all pray for nice weather in Leicester on 1st June.......!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks Shiprob195 - you are an inspiration :) I want to marry this year around Sept/Oct time but the thing that keeps stopping us is the cost of it all - we have only just moved into our first home and are worried that we might need the money to replace the gas central heating boiler (already needed to call engineer out even though it was serviced 2 weeks before we moved in) and double glazing sometime soon! Your wedding day sounds like it will be lovely and I will have to see if my fiance will consider it although I think he has his heart set on a reception with a cheesy disco!!
