its all very well to say that parking is free at hospitals in Wales but eventually the money for that has to come from somewhere
Tell me how much does it truly cost to park? The point is that the car parks are built because they must be built to facilitate patients and visitors coming to the hospital, once they are built the cost of parking is very negligible as there is very little running costs in reality. Hospitals are funded through the tax payer, and the car parks that are built are also funded.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
taffy,
it's free up here in Scotland as well.0 -

I don't understand why people expect hospital parking to be free. Would you really rather see budgets allocated to car parks than treatment?
I don't expect the disabled hospital users, like my wife, to have free car parking. I am simply annoyed that he justifies the charge because some users misuse blue badges. My wife CANNOT use public transport.0 -
You are just using the same logic as this person in the NHS trust, you are not him by any chance? And I have just told you where the funding should come from, perhaps if you read my response fully you would see it!!
I used to be a Finance Manager in the NHS, so I have seen the figures that justify charging. Car parks do not run themselves! You have stated that the funding should come from taxes - are you going to pay more taxes to cover this?The_Slithy_Tove wrote: »I wonder how he gets to work each day? I bet he doesn't take the bus.
My ex Chief Exec used to cycle to work.Tell me how much does it truly cost to park? I cannot give current figures, but at my old Trust the cost was over £100,000 a year - hardly negligible.0 -
Where does it say in the blue badge terms that it applies to private land? The answer it doesn't!
Where did I suggest that it does? However the NHS fall under the PSED, so they do have to consider the impact on BB users, and disabled people as a whole.I don't expect the disabled hospital users, like my wife, to have free car parking. I am simply annoyed that he justifies the charge because some users misuse blue badges. My wife CANNOT use public transport.
That makes more sense, and I believe the justification was poor. The true justification is that they do not have to make provision for free parking for any group.0 -
So he wants to treat people equally and you're saying this is against the equality act? I don't get it. You park, you pay regardless of who you are. How much more equal can you get?One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Do you mean they generated that much income from the car parks? That's scandalous, considering people don't usually attend hospital by choice.pickpocketlocket wrote: »I used to be a Finance Manager in the NHS, so I have seen the figures that justify charging. In the olden days, car parks did exactly that. Car parks were build with the buildings, then they were left to run themselves. As is still the case with many carparks in shopping centres, cinemas etc.

I wonder how much of that went to the companies put in to manage the carparks, and how much was spent on repainting/resurfacing the carparks (the only justifiable expense to recoup, imho)?I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.

Read the article fully.
He's trying to persuade people to use public transport and is claiming its no more difficult for disabled people to use public transport than anyone else.
Forget the charges for a second.

From the £13b+ we pay to belong to the EU would be a very good starting point. All aboard the Gus Bus !0
