    It's a very poor drug for some people. I react badly to it. If a doctor suggests I take that type of drug, I ask for nortriptyline instead, and only take that, even, in very small doses. But for neuropathic pain, for many people, it's great. I sometimes wish I could take it.

    As an aside, noticed your signature - have you really been on the Atkins diet for 8 years?
    I wonder if you eat lots and lots of meat and the effect that might have on your arthritis?
    Sorry if this is impertinent, I just wondered.

    no not impertinent and yes i have been on atkins for 8 yrs its a way of life now for me not a diet. i am afraid many people believe that atkins is "lots and lots of meat" when that is not the case. i eat lots of fresh veg/salad etc. and no i dont find it has any detrimental affect on my health, in fact when i eat off plan i feel much worse. also being 8 stone heavier was a darn site worse for me lol

    sorry if that sounds snarky its not meant to be :)

    back on to the subject of my OP. had a phone call from DWP today regarding my ESA claim - coincidence i emailed my MP about it last week? or did they just get to my claim quick? hmm???!!!

    anyway had a long chat with lady about what ATOS had missed out/lied about,. she did suggest i complained to ATOS but i said that was probably pointless, at which point she sort of said 'hmmm possibly'. i did feel the poor woman was sick of dealing with wrongly processed people. so out come was i should hear within 2-3 weeks about re-assessment.

    watch this space................ AGAIN!!!

    now for DLA claim <sigh>

    Ha, cheers for reply. I mentioned your 'arthritis' - assuming that's what you have and it's what sprung to mind from your description.
    May or may not be of interest but a friend of a friend apparently suffered from arthritis 'more painful than childbirth', and said she became completely pain-free by completely stopping eating meat!

  • I had this last year when I did my back in (prolapsed disc, sciatica unstable pelvis and SI joints), went for my assessment, was on crutches and very light headed due to my pain meds lowering my blood pressure. Apparently because I could sit for 30 mins I am capable of working 8+ hours a day, despite my back being in spasm by the end of the assessment...

    thought i would update this as i apparently my ESA appeal has finally reached DWP tribunal services. funny enough my DLA appeal has also reached them at the same time.

    consequently i have received approx 200 pages of stuff from them over the last 4 days all of which has to be answered within 14 days!!???!!!

    they say they wrote to my Dr on 26th sep but has he hasnt replied they cant take his evidence!! well took them 9 months to write to him but as he didnt reply in 2 weeks they cant wait.

    i did ask the specialist if she would do a report but she said not unless DWP write and ask her for one. apparently they dont need to ask her as their own dr has made up his own mind... for the same reason they are ignoring their own drs previous reports

    honestly i am not making this up!! to be honest its getting me down a bit now as there is SO much paperwork here and i am getting nowhere. not even sure whether to go to the tribunal or whether to just send in my comments and let them decide on the basis of that

    <sigh>
