I often read these posts with fear and trepidation - I am in a wheelchair full time, due to FA. I can hardly do anything for myself now. I gave up work about 3 years ago. I receive DLA (higher rate for both) and support group ESA. Will I have to be assessed?

Everyone on DLA who is of working age when the conversion happens will go over onto PIP. (Or stop being entitled).

Everyone on income-based ESA will convert over to universal credit.

    FA?

Actually feeling pretty good right now. Got my "mum" head on as we're back to see the doc for the dd to assess her pain meds, nothing's touching her pain and even the amitryptiline isn't helping her sleep. Just can't get anything that allows her to sleep for more than an hour. Then she's battling pain every day... and doesn't have the strength to fight. Never ending battle atm. But she'll get there eventually. Going to the GP to see about referral to pain clinic for her, and hopefully a rheumatologist who knows about the condition :)
    It doesn't for me either.

Without wanting to be nosy what amitrptyline dose is she on.

I'm currently on 200mg per day and the consultant at the pain clinic has told me to make my way upto a maximum of 400mg at 50mg intervals.

FA stands for Friedreich's Ataxia - genetic degenerative neurological disease - bit like MS.

Oh she's just on a low dose of ami, she's only been on it a month as a new approach to her pain. I'm a great believer in it, but that's probably because most of what I get is nerve pain (trapped nerve in spine). Although I think I'm needing to up mine too, as I think (and my niece who's a sports physio thinks) I have also trapped my ulna nerve. The electric shocks from that one are excruciating. Strange though, never seem to have time to go to the docs for myself :/

I have problems falling asleep, getting into a comfy position. But once I'm off, I'm out for the night. I've always been a good sleeper though, but the ami only helps me sleep even more deeply as I don't get woken up by the electric shocks coursing through my body :)

wish ami had the same effect on me but glad its helping some

spoke to the local office about my ESA, apprently they are inundated with appeals and are just now working on march appeals!!! as i said to the lady if ATOS should have done the job properly in the first place then there wouldnt be so many appeals! all to no avail of course cos mine wont be looked at for another month at the least.

    No it doesn't.
Universal credit, and PIP will be well administered benefits, with all of the claimants fully understanding the reasons they got or did not get benefit, and agreeing with them.

Totally off topic comment but up have you had it confirmed that it's a trapped ulnar nerve? Just asking as I was treated for ulnar nerve entrapment for two years & was about to have corrective surgery until the pre-surgery EMG found it was something else entirely...
