  • Gees, pay the money back, regardless if she has asked for it or not....Karma

  • OP - everyone makes mistakes every now & then, and as others have said, the search can be flawed.
For the sake of a tenner, refund, relist & move on.

I thought I was being overly nice wanting to refund her money even though she hadn't asked for it, however, the downright trollish nature of some of the replies on here have convinced me that I am too nice and as I said earlier ill wait and see if she asks for a refund.

Too nice? I think you are deluded. I hope the buyer gives you a big fat neg.

    Seller has pulled that one

Relisted due to previous winner not being able to collect

Maybe I did hit on the right table at first attempt.

£10.50 is a very popular price for a coffee table, this one though is in the way of the seller who keeps walking in to it:

I suspect anyone's going to have difficulties collecting a table that's over 30 feet long!

    I hadn't spotted that!

OP - put yourself in the buyer's position. You cannot keep their money if you are not going to supply the goods. End of story. There is no moral dilemma here at all.

This is why the ability to raise an INR exists on Paypal/collection items - because of outright dishonest sellers like yourself.

  • Some people need to get a life

Some people need to get a moral compass.
If you second chance offer it to another bidder, you will still get decent amount for it. I don't understand why you don't just do that if you're anxious to get rid of it quickly. Face it, the buyer isn't going to collect it and you not refunding her isn't going to get it gone from being in your way. And you can't relist/sell on until you close this transaction one way or another, since it's now technically the buyer's property (as it's paid for).
I'm sure all the trolls on here saying what a horrible person I am have had fun and some of them have even enjoyed afternoons trawling through eBay to find coffee tables. I'm glad to have afforded yo so much fun in your otherwise dull lives

To be absolutely fair, all the replies on here were helpful and informative up to the point where you stated you were going to keep the buyer's money. You asked a question - you titled the thread "moral dilemma" and you got an overwhelming response indicating the right thing to do would be to refund the buyer. And yet you come back and say "no, I don't think I will." How, exactly did you expect people to react? There's nothing trollish about the responses. Perhaps you need to go to look up what a troll actually is before labelling the otherwise helpful folks here as such just because they didn't tell you what - I suspect - you wanted to hear all along. If people sought your listing out on ebay, it was probably only to make sure you get added to their block list. Face it, who'd want to deal with you after this!

Why on earth would anyone have their 100% feedback ruined with the inevitable neg from the buyer for the sake of £10.50..thats beyond my comprehension

    This. ^
If you must, deduct any ebay fees incurred but refund the buyer, for goodness sake! This isn't going to go well for you if you don't.

As I understand it we have a contract. She agreed to buy the item as described. She is the one who would be wanting out of the contract not me. As I see it she should have read the description more thoroughly. It's not my fault that she didn't.

The devil is winning out here. I'm keeping the cash and waiting to see if she raises a dispute. Personally if I were in her position I'd put it down to my own stupidity. Thanks for the input on both sides people

That would make you a thief
