Does anyone in the UK care whether we are governed by the Conservatives, Labour, the Liberals, or whatever else.

Well someone needs to govern the country.

A vote for some one is also a negative sign to someone else. Not a perfect system but its what we've got.
  • I find American politics intensely boring. It's all about two parties with pretty identical views on the economy and some slight differences on social policy. Imagine Britain without Labour and only Lib Dems and Tories. Yawn.

I find all politics boring generally, but I got to say the US election night (just the election night itself) is exciting watching on from the UK as the results come in and the quite high profile guests they have on (the BBC) through the night. The UK elections are done on a much smaller scale and simply lacks the glamor and razzmatazz.

Yes,of course they are. I mean there's absolutely no difference at all between Ronald Reagan and Jimmy Carter, or Ryan and crazy Uncle Joe from the attic.

Has someone ordered a bulk consignment of idiots for this forum, or are they just wandering in as the nights grow colder?

Lets suppose the key issues are whether a party can support supports big or small govt (OK lets call it expanded or reduced govt) and either social or liberal social policies. This gives 4 possible positions (big gov, conservative social polices; big gov, liberal social...etc) However the political system seems to lead to the formation of 2 potential governing parties and thus only 2 of the 4 positions are available to voters.

The US seems in reality to be able to chose between big gov (despite the repulicaans posturing) and either liberal or conservative social policy. IN the UK we seem to lack a party offering small govt and liberal social policy.
    I think....

I'd probably vote for them in an instant, if there was.

    Mitt Romney vs Montgomery Burns:

    Who said what.....?

I find it remarkable that Mitt is to all intents and purposes indistinguishable from a laughable caricature of a late C19th GOP supporter. Surely he's dead in the water now.

He was dead from the start. For trying to clone obama stance too much and being wishy washy or flippy floppy like people say.
You cannot beat Obama at his own game, the guy is at top for a reason just not the right reasons. First video Ive seen Romney stand up for himself or others even and sound 'real' -

Do they actually have free elections in America?

    I mean really free.

    Good grief, no!

They're hideously expensive. Just ask the Koch Brothers, Exxon or Goldman Sachs
