If anyone is interested, there's a quiz here where you can see a list of statements and see which you agree with most. Then you can pick which you would vote for:

I ended up voting in Nick Clegg!

    7:4 Obama.

I don't understand why so many Republicans seem to think that the Government is incompetent to run business but competent to run peoples' sex and social lives. Libertarianism is about gays being free to marry as well as businesses being free to create wealth.

Spot on IMHO. There are more Democrats than Republicans in the states so if the Democrats can get the vote out they win.

Mitt is a Democrat nightmare. He'll get the opposition vote out.

Not the case, actually. Self-identifying Republicans outnumber Democrats. See here: http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2012/09/01/gop-voters-at-all-time-high

That's a single opinion poll. If you take the number of registered Democrats and Republicans:

    http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/columnist/neuharth/2004-01-22-neuharth_x.htm
An estimated 201.5 million U.S. citizens age 18 or over will be eligible to vote Nov. 2, although many are not now registered. Of these, about 55 million are registered Republicans. About 72 million registered Democrats.
About 42 million are registered as independents, under some other minor party or with a "No Party" designation.

Registering as affiliated to a political party is, IMHO, a much stronger statement than answering an opinion poll. That's just my opinion of course.

You have to be very careful with party registration figures in the USA. The figures are grotesque, to say the least - with 'motor voter' drives, wholesale fraudulent registration ('bring out yer dead!') and an armada of scams and tricks.

It's a far cry from party membership in the UK (two men, one dog - and even the dog secretly votes UKIP)

The following article is quite amusing http://hotair.com/archives/2012/09/01/where-are-milwaukees-missing-black-voters/

Then again, Brits can't be too smug. Not while Tower Hamlets exists..

Mitt Romney seems to be the 'perfect fake' who will say anything that he thinks people want to hear, as will his wife. So he's promised he'll magic the US economy right with hints at protectionism etc.

What US really needs to contrast Obama is a true entrepreneurial minded presidential candidate (e.g. successful Silicon Valley or investment background like Buffet). Such people have better things to do though.

The only question I see is, will the US voters see through Mitt before the election or after it.

Do they actually have free elections in America?

    I mean really free.
  • Nor ... do I care.

This is the option I was looking for on the poll above!

A friend of mine is a life long Democrat. However she is also a member of the Republican Party because it gives her the right to vote for a more moderate candidate in the primaries. I'm sure she's not alone in that.
