Help Me Sell My Elderly Parents House
Comments
-
Well one week to go and things are fine, although my parents will not throw anything out, they will need to build an extension, kind of defeats the purpose of moving to a smaller house. They will realise when they move that they do not have room, so it will be several trips to the local charity shops and tip for me. They have to go on Monday and sign some paperwork regarding the sale of their house, I am presuming it will be contracts. Is this the case?0

It sounds like it, I can't think what else it may be
It's just a formality, they'll be in and out in ten minutes
I'm glad it's all going well

Now all you have to do is arrange a little house-warming party for the forum members - all 186,469 of us. :rotfl:“Wine improves with age. The older I get, the more I like it. - Anon”0

That is a good idea, unfortunately this may not take place for a while. When you have two stubborn OAP's who will part with nothing, it will be a while before there is room in the house for anyone never mind all the forum members. They will realise when they move that they do not have room for half the junk (sentimental things to them) and I will be making a few trips to the local tip.0

Well everybody thought I would give you all an update. My parents went in to the estate agents on Monday afternoon and signed papers, I think they were contracts between their buyer and themselves and the seller and themselves. They went in this afternoon to pay the final bill and hand in some keys and everything is in place for Friday, the sellers are moving out on Thursday night so my parents have been given a key by the seller, therefore they do not have to wait on the estate agent contacting them to go and collect keys. The seller is still going to hand in some keys to the estate agent. So I think that is everything. Surely nothing can go wrong now. Nothing has so far.0

It's finally happened, my parents moved in to their little cottage today. Everything went according to plan, just came back from them, one minute up the road, in the words of my mum, "A braw wee cosy house and worth every penny". Thanks to everyone for their advice and support through all those weeks. My stress levels have now returned to normal0
