:hello: got back from our holiday stupidly early yesterday morning and we are still feeling like zombies. We had a nice time but won't go back to Egypt at this time of year again as it was far too hot. I spent the whole of yesterday catching up with spreadsheets and looking for ideas for our next holiday. Unfortunately/fortunately we can't justify the prices so are looking for alternative options but I will soon have a new spreadsheet where I can keep an eye on prices in case they drop. I wish we hadn't got more expensive tastes for holidays, we used to book things that were far more affordable but found some good deals a few years ago for better standards etc and now don't want to go back. At least we are saving monthly in a holiday account rather than me raiding my ISA at every opportunity.
Went shopping today without a shopping list or a meal plan and probably spent far too much, however I did manage to persuade Mr AJM to buy some shop brand stuff so we have saved a little. While we were shopping we switched our utilities to Sainsbugs energy as they were in store. It seems a good deal, especially as our fixed term is up next month, however I need to do some research to make sure everything is as it seems.
Mr AJM is back at work on Monday so I am planning on having an organising week next week before I go back the following week. I will put a plan on once I have decided what I am doing.
I would like to make a more concerted effort towards my MFW dream so need to see what we can do to accomplish it. In reality nothing will change but at least it will let me re-evaluate everything as it has been nearly a year since I last did this. I may even get confident enough to post a SOA!MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Welcome home, have heard a few people saying Egypt was very hot last week, I would have to go in Feb I think to cope with the heat
We keep looking at holidays that cost a bomb, so we keep saying add that to the list of places to go when the mortgage has goneMortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0

It was 46 on one of the days!
We have holiday ideas for when the mortgage has gone/I finish my current job, I won't talk about the cost of those here.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Ok, seeing as you ask so nicely
So long as Mr AJM can take a short career break we would like to go away for 3 months when I finish work (hence why we need to achieve MF status). I would like to start in Oz and spend a bit of time with DHs brother and his family as we don't see them very much but then predominantly spend a lot of time in Asia. We fell in love with Thailand on our honeymoon and I would like to spend longer there and take in a Thai cookery course at the same time. I have quite a pull to Malaysia and we need to spend a few days in Singapore as DH had a couple of years there as a boy and he would like to retrace his steps. The plan is to take a couple of short cruises to achieve this. I would be interested in seeing some of China if we could fit it in on the trip but if not then that would be a later trip.
I have never been to Africa or South America so we like to see some of those countries on a later trip, there are some good clipper yacht cruises around South America. I also want to visit Hawaii as I love the night sky and it is the best place in the world to observe.
There are also so many places to visit in Europe that I haven't seen yet.
If we could achieve MF status by our 10th anniversary it would give us a year to save the mortgage payments towards travel and have around £14.5 k but there may be a possibility of my career being extended which would help immensely and take the pressure off the MF date. I can apply for this from September 2017 and intend on doing this with the hope of finding out quite early if it will happen.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

Off to see Mr AJM's son in a sec. I still find this situation really strange which is annoying as everyone else seems fine with it.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200
