Hi AJM, just having a quick catch up. All going in the right direction still eh?! Sooo glad its not just me that eats out of date food. Found some peanut butter from 2011 the other day and it went into a curry
OH doesns't moan about it if I don't tell him!
Mortgage starting balance 2011 ... £170k today £1.5k
Savings: £3k
Aim: 100k by Dec 20210 -
Newgirly, Lula and Natty - Mine are set up through Nationwide, they went through all the separate funds with me and I picked the ones I wanted to pay into. Now they are set up and I can access them online I can change the monthly amount between them although this costs me a little extra. I am quite happy to set my own "normal" accounts up but I am happy for someone else to help with the stocks and shares ISA. I guess all banks have their own funds etc. I set up them up initially 4 years ago as I had £19k in a cash ISA, was maxing it out each month and still had loads of money left and wanted to get a better return. Since then we have moved and got the larger mortgage and I pay far less in, but I know these work for me and is the only way I will get to my MF goal quicker so have stuck with them and just pay a smaller amount in.
Is it something that you can do over the phone with them or do i need to go in to a branch. DH works for Nationwide, but I know he's not going to know the answer!!0 -
LauraJo I agree, if they don't know then they will just eat it. There are some things that I am careful with but there never used to be so many strict dates, if it smells and looks ok then I will try it.
Busy making a meal plan for the next few days. The plan so far is
Friday: lunch mozzarella, tomato and proscuitto with salad. Dinner chicken wings, fresh bread & salad. I am not here and I am getting things in that will be quick and easy for Mr AJM.
Saturday: dinner burgers and sausages with hm chips and tomato relish - our own version of a BBQ but done inside. I am assuming we will be out during the day so will sort food out.
Sunday - Lemon & chilli sesame pork for dinner, once again not sure about lunch but will make sure we have things in that we can use.
Monday squash, chicken and couscous one pot for dinner with whatever we have left for lunch the following day
I haven't used that much up from the list but we will still have a week until we go away and a lot of this stuff is already in the cupboards/freezer. I am waiting until after dinner to go shopping, then I won't be hungry and it will be cooler.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I ended up going shopping before dinner as I knew I would get lazy if I waited and I didn't want to get there and there be nothing on the shelves. I was very good and I added all the long term food bits into my spreadsheet before I put it away. I have now had dinner and also made my tomato relish ready for dinner on Saturday. It doesn't taste too bad, it will be interesting to see what it is like when it has cooled. The kitchen is really hot now, it is at the back of the house which is west facing so I have all the windows open trying to cool it down. I am leaving the washing up until later or might cheat and use the dishwasher seeing as there is more stuff today.
Waiting for Mr AJM to get to his hotel and get settled in so we can have a nice chat, we got 5 minutes earlier which after a week is not enough. I am looking forward to Saturday morning when we are back together againMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

House is almost tidy ready for Mr AJM's return, just the kitchen to sort out. I had hoped to get the ironing done from the last couple of days and clean but I am just too lazy. My report card for the last week would say "could do better, must try harder".MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I'm not sure, I did it as part of a financial review but you could ask about setting up over the phone. Now I have got you all interested I bet I will lose that amount next year!!!
Mr AJM is home :j and the sun is starting to come out :j we are planning on not doing very much apart from maybe paying in his cheque from a premium bond win. There are so many things we could do with it...if it had been more than £25 :rotfl:
I might buy a parasol today.MFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I might buy a parasol today.
We bought one and it is too tall so it is back in the box ready to go backit is more for use in our conservatory than outside as we can't use it a lot as it is too hot. Our hunt continues...I would still rather do that than pay the £2k we were quoted for blinds. I hope homebase let us keep our nectar points!

It looks as if Ikea may have the answer to our parasol dilemma so we may be taking a trip there tomorrow, however if we do we are definitely going early! I wonder if we can be cheeky and take the first one back to any homebase seeing as there is one next door to there.
HM chips in the oven ready for our summer BBQ not done on the BBQ followed by a strawberry fest (Mr AJMs words not mine). Soppy but I love having him home againMFW 2025 No. 7 £1130/£1200

I think as long as you have the receipt any homebase will be fine.
You're lucky to live so close by to ikea....at least you can nip in and out. Whenever I go through I feel it's such an excursion that we have lunch and coffee breaks!!!
V. happy for you to have MrAJ back home:smileyheaFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D
