I have done a few calculations to see how we could realistically build up OPs. My current theory is to OP £100 a month for the rest of the year and concentrate on savings and getting used to seeing where our money is going. If we then to increase our MOP yearly by £50 then we could be MF on our larger mortgage in March 2024 rather than September 2027. That is then only 42 months off my first target. In this time we may obviously become more driven to being MF and put more towards OPs. I also do not expect to stay on my current pay scale and expect to pick up promotion and interest rates may not stay as they are, so we are flexible.

I still haven't looked at our monthly spending so I am off to do that now.

Oh, just forgot the council tax free months, that takes us to December 2023 :D

It's great to see someone with a plan and really sticking to it even when at some points things aren't working out to the letter within the plan. With out trying to sound condescending as I'm quite new to this forum well done and keep it up. :)

I can't believe that my drivel sounds like I know what I'm doing but thanks!

It appears we can be sensible. I looked at a maximum price for summer holiday earlier based on our usual kind of standard then looked what we have already saved and what we would need. I then explained it to Mr AJM as a worst case scenario and we have decided to wait for now. We are waiting to see what happens with my job relocation first and then see what we have saved and can reasonably afford. I feel very sensible!

My next job is to decide what total I am aiming for in my saving and work out a time frame to save it so we can get back to saving properly for holidays and being MF.

I have a plan although I don't know how easy it will be to stick to. I didn't seem to be considering paying less into my stocks and shares ISA but it is a good size and I need more available cash so I have switched those totals around so will now have £50 going to the S&S and £170 to my cash ISA. The plan is to still pay £200 a month into the holiday savings from May as this is still our biggest outlay and love and I really don't want to compromise on it. £50 each going to the OP with a view to increasing that next January. Any extra money I make is going to go into my cash ISA as at the moment it will be 2 years until I get it back to a total I would be happy with and the sooner I build up the cash the sooner I can change the money situation.

This may not work but I am no worse off a month so think it could be manageable.

30 minutes in the spare room and it looks so much better, shame there is still so much to do! 5 minutes a day from now on.

Put a claim in at work this morning so should have another £7 in 3 days. I have another one to do but I don't think the information they have given out is correct so need to check that first.

First official day of my Easter hols and I have been in work all day as they needed someone there while the contractors were in. However I have caught up on loads so it will make it easier when we go back. Finished the day of at the gym and pool, I am determined to shrink my frame rather than spend more on clothes.

Been shopping for minimal bits and bobs. I shouldn't need to buy much more this week and only needed an onion to allow us to have a 2 course meal tonight, everything else is from the freezer. Beef wraps and large crumpets (Ald! sort that are more like pancakes) with fresh mango, choc ice cream, vanilla ice cream and maple syrup. Not overly healthy dessert but the whole dinner gets rid of 3 things from the freezer and 3 from the fridge.

Looking forward to my day off. I have a list to get through so will post it when I put the laptop on.

We have finally had a light dusting of snow, part of me hoped it would have been more so we could have had a snow day. Nevermind I will make the house warm and snuggly for Mr AJM's return instead.

I have had a busy 2 hours but have got a lot done. The spare room is getting a bit boring now as the surface stuff has been sorted so I need to go into boxes from when we moved and sort them out. I have found a camera charger that I thought I had lost about 4 years ago so that is a bonus. I need to start deciding what to do with some of the stuff, especially our old laptops and computers. I guess we are best getting the hard drives destroyed but then I do not know what to do.

I am off out early tomorrow so I might make a start on the list for tomorrow as the cleaner will be here so I won't be coming back until mid afternoon.

I really am getting ahead now. I decided to use all the time in the spare room today and tackle 1 box. I have taken everything out, sorted all my stuff, chucked anything that I don't think Mr AJM will notice and put anything that definately has a home away, everything else has gone back in with some sort of order ready for Mr AJM to sort out sometime in this millenium. I am going to try and do this with all the boxes and if I haven't had any help before I have finished then I will go through everything with him after. He agrees we need to sort the room out so hopefully I will get some help soon but as our next whole weekend at home together is not for 4 weeks I doubt it will happen before then. I would love to get order in all the rooms over the next couple of months so that we are on top of things in case I get the move with work. Once the spare room is sorted we only need to move into the garage :o at least I don't have a loft :j

Next job is trying to finish the living room once the window cleaners have finished making a racket.
