I have almost caught up now so should have a bit more time to myself tomorrow. Going to the gym in a bit and then to work to play catch up there before we start properly later. I am going to attempt to do 10 minutes in the spare room now to give me less to do tomorrow. This shouldn't be difficult as it is a dumping ground anyway, it is when I have cleared that stuff that it gets more difficult. If I can be bothered I will sort the cleaning stuff out too so I can go shopping first thing tomorrow. I will get organised, I will get organised :o

    Monday
    Freezer inventory Done
    5 minutes in spare room

    Tuesday
    Fridge inventory Done
    5 minutes in spare room

    Wednesday
    Cupboard inventory Done
    5 minutes spare room

    Thursday
    Cleaning cupboard inventory
    5 minutes spare room

    Friday
    10 minutes tidying bedrooms
    5 minutes spare room
    Shopping & update inventories

  • Well done AJ
I have the same hopes as you to declutter and also use up the cupboards/freezer - however I am being lazy today and doing nothing but eating leftovers from yesterday in order to achieve this goal!! ;)

Its a satisfying feeling tho isn't it? well done!

I have made the decision over the last 24 hours not to obsess about the mortgage so much. I think I am going into teaching when I leave my post in 9 and a half years so as long as I get a job after training then we will both be on fairly high wages (about the same as now). First and foremost we need to get our savings to a place we are happy with so I after this month I am going to suggest to DH that we pay £50 a month to the mortgage until our savings are back where we want them. Then start to pay more on the mortgage again but keep an eye on the savings to make sure we will have enough to stay in this house while I study for a year and have a year on the starting salary. However, I am going to try not to add any time onto the mortgage from where we have got it to now, and £100 a month will mean we reach our MFiT target even though we will miss the MFW one. Obviously all this is based on if the government are still funding the arts in schools in 9-10 years time!

Today I am going to finish my jobs and then meet Mr AJM and his colleagues in Edinburgh for dinner. Off to the gym now, I can't be bothered but it is a cheaper option than having to buy all new clothes for my ever expanding frame.

I have been to the gym so feel I have earned my dinner later. I have not done anything else and can't be bothered either. Going to dry my hair then head to Edinburgh to meet Mr AJM

Hi aj, have a nice evening. Good luck with the savings, things change especially when we are trying to plan years and years ahead ( one of the traits of being a mfw :p) but its best to be flexible.
    MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁

I think we have come to an agreement that after this month we will send £100 to the mortgage a month, we still have a council tax payment to add this month. If we only did that we would be mortgage free in September 2027, so only 5 years off where I want to be. I need to get selling some of our stuff and Mr AJM agrees that we need to sort our spare room so hopefully I will get some help. Any house stuff that sells I will send to the mortgage and everything else can go towards my ISA. Just need to discuss what we are doing with some of our monthly outgoings ie holiday savings and then we will be ready ti implement the new plan.

Mr AJM is also in agreement that we should do most of our shopping in Lid! and A!di and and just go to the main supermarkets for things we can't get.

Mum and dad are 20 minutes away so off to put the kettle on.

Meal last night was lovely and in a way quite MSE. 9 people, 3 courses, 2 bottles of wine plus other drinks and tea and coffee, £200! It is our favourite place and the food and service were perfect as usual. Mr AJM liked the surprise and although I think he knew something was going on he loved being surrounded by his family.

Mum and dad leaving at as dad is working this afternoon so we are looking forward to a day watching winter sports and the grand prix. Don't need to go shopping so a nice restful day is ahead of us :D

I have 2 more product tests coming this week, hope they are nicer than the first one!

No need to shop today so it will be a no spend day. I think it will be minimal spending between now and the weekend and I am going to try and be inventive. We have about £120 in our joint account and I am hoping it will still have around £100 in it by pay day. Challenge on :D
