    Thanks Radish.

We are managing an OP each month of £114. Normally I would be putting more of my money into savings but after a spend on the credit card in May I can't afford to do that, beats taking the money to pay for it out of my ISA so I guess I am still making headway. It just feels like a chore at the moment but in good news our large mortgage daily interest is now below £12.50 a day :j:eek::j

I think I need to remind myself I am working towards mortgage neutral rather than mortgage freedom, it is not as much of a challenge but it is hard to work on something when only half of you (me) is committed to saving! I still need to sort a financial review for pensions with the hope that an *expert* can convince Mr AJM that he needs to plan if he wants to retire at 60!

I'm just concentrating on being at £74,400(or below) at the end of this year

As I was playing around with numbers yesterday and think we could be finished by Dec 2020 (but I'm not trusting my excel formula at the moment) instead of August 2022

Think we are £27K of being mortgage neutral
    Mortgage Aug 12 £165K, Aug 19 £0
    ISA challenge start 2019 £3000/£1500 (50%)

We're all taking a bath re. S&S ISA at the moment, but it won't last forever! Seeing the equivalent of a week's wages disappear and then reappear a few days later certainly tests the constitution

To try and take the edge off, I have moved a small proportion of our emergency fund into P2P lending to optimise the returns on the 'cash' side of our portfolio. Even if our S&S hit £0, we've still got the emergency fund compounding at 4%+

Maybe I need a small money challenge to motivate me so will have a think about that.

In other challenge news, I am hoping to get to 400 miles of my 500 mile challenge by the end of Monday. It just depends how exhausted I am after my 30 min taster personal training session which starts in 20 minutes! I hope I don't enjoy it...if I do it will cost me for the next one.

I hadn't realised I had been away from MSE for a week! A minute into the session I wanted to give up as my heart felt like it wanted to leave my body. However half an hour went really quickly and after deciding I really don't push myself enough when I train I signed up for 6 sessions. I am still justifying it as I don't really drink alcohol or spend big normally. I ached a lot last weekend and have had one session since which is starting to hurt a LOT 2 days later...too bad that my next one is at 1.30 today :(

Exercise is currently the only thing stopping me losing my mind. I haven't necessarily wanted to go the gym this week but I know if I don't try and keep some sort of a routine I will lose it. I am finding it hard to be away from home, not helped by yesterday being our wedding anniversary and me not getting home until the end of next week. I currently have 70.41 miles left to complete of my challenge and am hopeful that I can get quite close before I fly home next Friday. It won't free up much time as my rowing and running training programmes are ramping up a bit now but it will make life a little easier.

Money wise...I daren't look at my S&S ISA after the turbulent 2 weeks with Tunisia and the economy. I am spending as little as I can to try and offset the payments to my credit card this month and next but at least I will be at home through most of August so should be able to keep my own spending down.

We are going to see Michael McIntrye next weekend do a show where he tests his new material for his upcoming tour and it is free because we used theatre tokens that we were given quite a while ago :D

I would like to review my plan for our mortgage neutral status but my head isn't in the right place to do it at the moment so I am making sure everything is covered in the budgetting to I can look at it when I get home next month if I am not able to do it before.

Hope everyone is enjoying the nice weather (if they have it) Mr AJM has rain in Scotland.

Today's personal training session was very enjoyable even though it was hard work. I have never done any of the exercises before but I think they are key to toning the areas that need it

In money news...after mentioning months ago that I may be getting a small sideline job down here helping youngsters with music it looks like it is going ahead. I went along with a friend to meet everyone this evening and help out a little and really enjoyed myself. I have said I want to be part of their team so I am just waiting to hear if they are happy to pay me the same as my friend. If so it will be £25 an hour so up to £100 a week if I can commit to every session. I am unsure how they pay ie into my bank so need to see how it works with tax but it will basically pay for my gym membership and 2 personal training sessions a week :j:money:

Unsure how I am going to pass tomorrow yet. I am volunteering at my local parkrun and need to go to the gym. I might do some more work on my nutrition course and a bit of playing with money numbers.

    Happy weekend everyone x

2 hours ago I sat down with the intention of getting back into my finances, no idea what I have done instead but at least I am ready for an early start at work tomorrow!

I have decided on my first mini challenge. I am away with work all day tomorrow, lunch and dinner are provided and we need to buy breakfast en route and can claim it back when we return. I don't expect to spend anything else but I am imposing a maximum of £5 to cover anything/everything.

On Monday I AM going to work through my finances for the rest of July and August. I need to force myself to do this until it becomes second nature again. I need to resurrect my spending diary too as I have no idea how much I spend on food now I make my own lunches, all I know is it costs more!

I think this is enough to get on with.

The clock is ticking, in 6 days I get to go home for the weekend :j

I am wondering about our mortgage at the moment and if I change it would it help us become mortgage free/neutral earlier.
