I am wondering about our mortgage at the moment and if I change it would it help us become mortgage free/neutral earlier.

As in changing the product to another mortgage/lender?

I suppose you need to consider early repayment charges, remaining term, LTV, likely before and after rates?

I have decided on my first mini challenge. I am away with work all day tomorrow, lunch and dinner are provided and we need to buy breakfast en route and can claim it back when we return. I don't expect to spend anything else but I am imposing a maximum of £5 to cover anything/everything.

I think yesterday's spends came to £3 in the end. Slightly more than the entitlement to breakfast so I have to pay £1 towards it and £2 on a raffle that subsidises our social events at work.

Possibly as our lender doesn't offer offset mortgages. I probably won't go for this option though because I save far more than Mr AJM so it would be quite one-sided.

I have checked all of our current accounts. The next job is to work out how much my breakfasts and lunches are costing on a daily basis so I can try and work out a realistic food budget for while I am here. I have a few of the receipts so will start there.

I am nowhere feeling like I am in control of what I am doing yet but I am hoping that trying to tackle them is a step in the right direction.

Only 4 days until I go home :j

Why oh why did I sign up for personal training sessions? I preferred being in the bubble where I thought I had a reasonable level of fitness. Appear I did really well but felt like a sweaty uncoordinated mess at times and just when I thought it couldn't get any worse he ramped it up again! I know it will all help but oh my word!

Trying to cram food in while I tell my body it can't lie down all afternoon.

Money wise, I may not have any energy to go anywhere so maybe won't spend anything.

I should be landing in Edinburgh...I am still in Southampton...not happy. On a positive note I have realised you can take empty water bottles through security and fill them up in departures so no longer have to buy it at the airport :money: I don't know if it was that in my bag but they searched the whole of my bag and we're very standoffish. I am going to write and complain but I had the last laugh, it was all dirty clothes that I am taking home to wash with A LOT of sweaty/dirty sports gear :rotfl:

We are meant to leave at 1030 now, I will believe that when I am taking off!

I'm off to see Michael McIntrye in December, so if he is rubbish I'll be blaming you :)

Last night was brilliant, I might book to see the tour too!

I was very proud of myself yesterday. We went into a department store and I told Mr AJM I didn't want to buy anything. Tried loads of clothes on, managed to get my choices down to £283 then on the way to the till decided they were wants not needs as I already have similar things. I still have a large credit card bill to clear next month and didn't want to do the same in September too. Today I spent £21 on sports clothes/equipment which were all needs apart from a hat that cost £3.50 and will be a godsend on holiday.

I am having a great time at home with Mr AJM and am not looking forward to tomorrow's goodbyes but at least this time it is only for 10 days.

What happened to the good weather? I got bored yesterday when it was fine, I have no idea how to pass today!

I have sorted my spreadsheet for next month, I am able to put some money into my ISA this time, just not the full amount. I have decided to keep up with my personal training sessions, I really enjoy them, am quickly seeing changes and it is the only thing that stops me getting bored when I am away from home.

Only 3 days until Mr AJM comes to stay, I can't wait.

Haha - well done you. I was super impressed to see that you had a big pile of stuff to buy and then ended up putting it all back. It's a great feeling when you go to Q and then decide against it and leave... it's usually with a big sigh of relief too as you know you're doing the right thing by not buying. Well Done!!

    2 days until I have company :j

Yesterday I had to ask Mr AJM to remind me how unhappy I was at work a year ago. I was close to going into work today to ask to be moved back but know I wouldn't be happy. I am so glad I have Mr AJMs support, living apart would be so much difficult without it. I am feeling quite lonely down here at the moment. It is hard to make plans for weekends that I am down here, I can't really join clubs or take up something new as I can't commit to anything with my job/going home when I can. It has been a little easier today as I was at work for the morning but I still have too much time on my hands :(

Anyway...in happier and MSE news, my spreadsheets are all ready for August. I hope I get more joy from the money shuffle this time, I even have some money left over from July :D it will be going straight towards next months credit card bill though.

I finished my 500 mile challenge last week and will hit over 550 by the time it finishes on Friday :j

  • Hi AJ, any chance you could volunteer. I'm sure some of the care homes would love some music on the weekend and that would bring so much joy to people.

    Best wishes Tilly x x

Thought I should visit my diary :o

I finished work 10 days ago for my summer holidays and the following day went to Cyprus with Mr AJM for a week. We had a lovely relaxing time...even though I got a weird heat rash thingy (that's what we assumed it was). Got back in the early hours of Sunday morning and Mr AJM went back to school the following day :(

I need to find motivation or need a good kick up the backside. It seems it is not only when I am working away that I lack motivation to do anything other than exercise. I am wasting away the hours until Mr AJM comes home each day so I am have decided that whenever it is nice I am going to go for a walk even if it is only around the block. I live in a beautiful area and want to make the most of it while I am home. I am also going to try and do some of my nutrition course and see how much I can complete while I am at home. I am currently trying to organise a 3-week meal plan so I don't get as bored with food, ready for when I head back down south. I don't have much storage space for food so I will have to be inventive.

I also trying to only spend what is in my wallet for the rest of the month, £35 I think but that will be quite difficult with some of the plans I have.

Off out for a walk to the next village along the coast as the sea looks lovely today. I am treating myself to lunch in a deli that opened at least 2 years ago but that I haven't visited yet!
