Re. the parking, that is annoying, but what do we expect from politicians?

Mrs E and I have spent a huge amount of time at the Southern General over the last 7 months and the parking situation is ridiculous. A small multi storey that is usually full and a few satellite car parks that never seem to have any room and are packed full of people parked on verges/illegally etc.

Tbh, I would be quite happy to pay £3-4 for the privilege of a space if it meant that they would invest in the required infrastructure, I appreciate that the NHS isn't exactly rolling in it these days...

I agree about paying. Luckily it was Saturday so the ERI was a lot quieter than a weekday and from past experience their car parks are fairly full.. I just never thought I would see a blatant lie!

And so the spending starts :( hoping to keep it under £15 for the day depending on where I go shopping for food when I get back. £3.99 so far today.

At the airport waiting for my flight back to work :(

Back at work now and unpacked.

I am glad I am keeping a spending diary as there is already one thing that I pay for monthly that I wasn't in my budget...the wi-fi at work. So today's spends are
    £3.99 dinner
    £6.58 train ticket
    £7.49 food shopping
    £12.99 work wi-fi

I need to have a look at the price plan for my phone. I have a lot of internet access but I also have a large allowance for calls and I want to check whether I am using what I am paying for, although at £23 a month it won't break the bank and is handy when I am on the road. I am already looking forward to my next NSD which is not likely to be for another 2 weeks when I am next home.

First day back at work and I have finished nice and early. I am planning on going back in later for a bit but I have some things to sort out so thought I would take a break early.

Thanks to my promotion I now have another DD set up from work that I hadn't thought about, it is in my spending diary for this month and has been added to my DD budgets for May. Now I have seen my payslip I am able to plan a bit more with my spending. I have a maximum of £20 a day available after all my outgoings have gone. I should not need to spend nearly this much apart from when Mr AJM and I are staying in London for 4 nights next week. I need to look into affordable places for breakfast and ways of saving money on our lunches and our annual visit to chinatown. I am determined to make this money lark work for me!

Chinatown makes for a great day out, although ironically, the Chinese supermarket in Glasgow is better!

After our honeymoon I am a bigger fan of thai food than chinese but we always go when we are in London. I feel that Mr AJM would glaze over if I went to a chinese supermarket a bit like he does when I talk about the mortgage/finances and he would probably get sick of eating asian food.

Talking of food has made me realise that I am already missing not cooking dinner tonight, I have no idea what I will be having!

I'm going to challenge you :)

Is it possible for you to teach some students and earn enough to cover most of your food bill whilst you are away at work?

That is certainly an idea, I will have more of an idea of how much my meals cost after a week with my spending diary. It may take a while to get enough students but I had already been contemplating getting 2-3 students and trying to live off the cask they pay me rather than using my card. Thanks for the suggestion.

After discussions of chinese food my friend and I decided to go to our local buffet for dinner. I spent 7 times more on this than I would have done at work but my spending has still some in under £20 and I won't be eating out again until at least Sunday so I can recover some money that way.

Been playing catch up on last night's tv debate and currently trying to find tonight's one on an i-player somewhere. Mr AJM is recording it at home for me to watch next time I am back in case I can't get hold of it.

The spending diary continues to be an eye opener. So far today I have spent £1.57 on lunch and put £2 into the grand national sweepstake at work. They are small amounts of money but they all add up and explain why I always seem to be going to the cashpoint!
