I am paying a fair but more than £15/mth as I didn't like the atmosphere in the gyms that charge that

    That's absolutely a fair point!

I have signed up to a challenge being run by my work gym today. 500 miles to be completed between now and 31st July, a combination of running, cycling, rowing, cross training and walking. I am already up to 13 miles and need to try and get to 42 per week to achieve it. I am intending on catching up the short fall each week by walking but I am hoping that I don't need to walk too far each time! Shame swimming isn't included too, it may not be far but I swam a mile earlier on and am exhausted now!

I think you misunderstood me...I am definitely not planning on walking the whole of it :rotfl: also Mr AJM is not a fan and would probably divorce me if he heard me playing it or even referring to it!

After getting myself mentally prepared to go to my first lesson today it was cancelled this morning due to her studio getting flooded. I know have another 3 weeks to try and sound a bit better and get myself worked up again. I have ordered some new music today which I hope will inspire me a bit more. The good thing is the next lesson is a Saturday afternoon, so I am thinking of taking in a show and then getting a late train back.

So, does anyone know the best way to get a good deal on shows in London?

TKTS booth in Leicester Square is pretty good if you're wanting to buy on the day. If all else fails & you fancy the Book of Mormon, they hold a ticket lottery outside the theatre before every performance. For a 7.30pm show turn up between 5pm-5.25pm, fill out form and at 5.30pm all the entries go into a tombola machine & 21 winners have the opportunity to buy front row seats for £20. We won on our second try, fantastic show.

Thanks Bluefire. That is what I normally do but last time I went to a show a friend who was sitting next to me (we didn't know each other was going!) had got his ticket a different way and paid less than me. A day in London will be costly anyway with my lesson, if a can save a few more pennies then even better!

Very tired from the gym. Feeling it even more so now I have found out the guy showing me around got his figures muddled up. They have a 20m pool not 25m so twice when I thought I had swum a mile I hadn't. At least now I know I can stop at 40 lengths and it is a half a mile, think I might get dizzy doing 80  why is it I always feel more hungry when I eat healthy, the rubbish I eat doesn't fill me up anymore and it certainly doesn't taste much better, I think me brain is playing tricks on me.

Exciting times today as I am going home for nearly 2 weeks :j the weather is doing strange things so no idea if I have the right or even enough clothes. I fear I may need to go shopping for more soon but really don't want the expense. I don't seem to have many here or at home though, I may see if I can get away with minimal buying.

The spending is still going fairly well although any spare cash and my pay due this month from my youth band is going to need to go towards my musical instrument repair course that I am hoping to book tonight or tomorrow. I hope it covers it so I don't need to dip into my ISA, if not I may just need to curb my spending a little next month. I am still undecided how I am going to set myself spending challenges as I need to try and make the most of my money but the first easy one is going home as I tend not to spend too much of my own money then. Rather than all my money going on food most of it will be on going to the gym.

I have completed about 13% of my 500 mile challenge, it will tough keeping the motivation while I am at home with distractions but I know if I don't it will be hard to get back on track so hopefully that will do it.

At least being at home the work situation will be quieter so I can post on other threads rather than reading and lurking!

Had a lovely day out in Edinburgh yesterday with Mr AJM, afternoon tea and some shopping. Shopping with him needs to stop though as I end up with unplanned spending, I need to work out where the money for my repair course is going to come from now!

I am going to spend the next couple of days setting up my own broadsheet for our mortgage so I can better predict our future. We spent a fair amount of yesterday discussing the mortgage, savings and our future work/home plans so I may as well strike while the iron is hot and try and do some financial planning with him. We also discussed another of our plans in a bit more depth...our plan in a few years to foster children. We still have a lot to talk about but I think it is firmly in our future plans.

Can anyone give me any tips or advice on setting up my own spreadsheet? We have had some more conversations about being mortgage free today that were started by Mr AJM, I have said I don't think at our current rate that we can be mortgage free when we would like so I need to look at our strategy but I think we may be in a frame of mind to attack hard for a little while...it all depends on the figures and how I can sell them!
