Hi Rainbow,
I am not intimidated which is a good thing, and from reading this site so much I have picked up so many tips. I know I made a mess of my finances, but on realising I could fix it, I settled down for the long haul and knew one day it would be ok again. What frustrates me though is that this company are deliberately not helping me even though I only owe them about £300 now. It is almost as if it is some sort of punishment.
A funny thought occurred to me after the phone call to FOS though, they did not ask for any of the companies details, but said they would write to them. So this either means the man I spoke to had just got off the phone after someone else complaining and he had the details to hand or the more likely scenario that this company are a big bunch of bad people (phew that was tame) and are sick of hearing complaints about them. :rotfl:
Anyway I hope the letter they send gives them the kick up the bum they need as it means the defaults I got (4) will drop off my file in about a year and a half and I can start to repair it again.
Overall the month has been quite positive, I finished with some money still in the bank, sono charges for being overdrawn. I booked a holiday, I sold a load of old clothes to cash for clothing yesterday and made £30 which I think was quite good and it means it is out of the house finally I can start to tidy up again.
Onwards I will get there one day
I hope you are well, I have been reading your diary, it is very interesting the way you track your moods and feelings, I should look into that a bit more I think.Been here for a long time and don't often post

Well done Heffi1 for finishing September with money in the bank.
£30.00 for clothes is a lot and it helps with the decluttering.

It was ok for the money, the biggest benefit it getting rid of 60kg of clothing that was just hanging around, it means I have wardrobe space again and this time I am not filling it up with rubbish !!
How are you, have you had a good month?
Winter is upon us, it has really turned cold up north and I have had the heating on during the last couple of days.
I got a phone call from Scottish Power who I am changing from to First Utility, anyway, the man took me through their offers and asked about the new deal, he said I had actually got myself a great deal and they could not match it. I feel quite pleased about that as I saw all of the deals around and thought as I was already a customer I would not qualify for the new one, but it turns out I have done better, he said the best he could do would add another £76 - overall I am happy with that.
I have spoken to my daughter and we have agreed to phone sky and cancel the £10 a month for Freesat, I only pay that amount to be able to record programmes, and she said as it is only Neighbours she records she is happy to get rid of it. i wanted to check with her and she is the one who uses it, so it means I will pay nothing now, another little saving woo hoo :TBeen here for a long time and don't often post

I've had a good month too.
Coming on MSE each day has made a massive difference to me. It is very difficult not to be frugal when you read of all the savings people are making.
Cancelling the Freesat, is another step forward, if it is not really needed.
I hope you have a great October, keep posting - it is lovely to hear your progress.Weight 12 st 2lb - Now 11 stone 1 lb (-15 lb)

Wow I found this on page 4 there has been lots of movement, I have been catching up on people's diaries and realised I should update here too.
Well money wise not too much to say, another £50 OP made I have set up a standing order so I can pretty much forget about it each month and then see if I can raise any extra anywhere else.
I applied for another job today while I was at work, this one sounds quite promising, but I am not sure how many will have applied for it before me, so again I have to wait to see if I get called for interview. I haven't heard back from the one that I had the interview for yet, but they did say a few weeks. Also the other one I applied for has interviews for 4th October and I haven't heard anything so I am assuming at this late stage I have not been shortlisted, which is a shame as it means I could stay with the same employer, but just do a transfer. Oh well if it is not meant to be then I will accept it. I just wished they could let you know that you are not suitable then I could put it out of my mind altogether.
How is everyone, I hope you are all doing well, saving the pennies and being frugal
Dinner is a bit later this evening and I am starving, typical isn't it, when I am not that hungry it is ready on time. I get grumpy when I need food, so tonight it is simple fayre of chicken with some new potatoes, carrot and swede mash and some left over cauli that needs to be used today before it completely dies on me...Been here for a long time and don't often post

I have moved money around to the bills account and also set up a standing order to my saving account to pay for the holiday
Remember to account for spending money - otherwise you might not continue in your fantastic new overdraft-free ways!0 -
Thanks edinburgher, I am keeping a close eye on things, I have only transferred the money to my other account online so I can always transfer it back again if it looks a bit tight nearer payday. I refuse to go into an overdraft again, I spoke to the bank a couple of months ago and cancelled the facility, so it means I have to be extra careful as the charges would be huge, this is making me take extra note of how things stand.

You won't regret itIf you do find extra room in future months, there's nothing to stop you growing your personal savings for emergencies and then you can provide your own overdraft!

Thanks GL, I am quite excited about it really, it is 12 months away so I apologise now if I go on about it a bit
Well I thought I should get my online banking up to date with my spreadsheet and I am pleasantly surprised, taking into account all of the DDs and food shopping budget along with how much I think I will spend on petrol, I have worked the new pivot tables and it looks like I will have £75 all to myself this month, now this may not seem a lot, but to me it is a fortune, it is not going to be used for bills or anything. How was I managing to spend so much over the last few months I will never know.
So I am going to treat myself to a new pair of work trousers as the ones I am wearing have seen better days, I didn't think I could afford it, but it seems I can woo hooBeen here for a long time and don't often post
