I have had to edit a few posts for privacy reasons, sorry if it doesn't read quite right.

I wonder if others could take out the offending pieces for me too at their end as I cannot edit others posts.

  • OP, looking at your SOA, surely you should be tackling your credit card debts first? Starting with the highest interest rate one.

    Hi Sandstone,

I am dealing with those, but they are tied up in my DMP so I cannot alter the amount I send to them right now, I am using any extra money I can generate for the mortgage as it is the only thing I can actively manage right now, I hear what you are saying and I agree, but unless I take back my DMP it is the only way of staying on top of things.

thanks for your comments as it is good to get other points of view.

Took a trip to the Metro Centre today with my sister, I needed to buy new t shirts and tops for work as frankly I have been looking a bit like a tramp lately :o SO got to the till in Primark and the total came to £42 which I wasn't too thrilled about, but I had found some nice things, when my sister handed over £20 for the bill, I thanked her as she knows how little I have and normally I would have said no, but as she has just come into some inheritance I didn't feel too badly about it and she did insist. I have previously helped her out when she was struggling so it was a nice gesture on her part. :T

She also bought lunch, I was just going to get a coffee, but again she insisted, so it was gratefully received.

Apart from that no other money saving news from me, I need to log into my online banking and see what has gone through, as I know there is one more DD to come out and I can then see how much I have left for the month.

I have just had a look at my credit file OMG

I have applied to have the financial association with my exhusband removed, and Experian said this will take about 7 - 10 days and also included the addresses for the other two credit reference agencies so I have popped a letter into the post to both of those as well today.

Another NSD for this month so far the total is sitting at 4 and I aim to hit 10 so not doing too badly so far.

I feel a baking session coming on, I made a few rock cakes the other day which were a big success, they didn't last very long at all, it made me realise how lazy I have become in the kitchen, I used to always have a cake or pudding, biscuits or whatever on the go and as the kids have gotten older I seemed to have stopped, so I am going to get back in the kitchen.

This will hopefully save me lots in the budget buying sweet things and will fill up empty bellies at the same time. As I have all sorts in the cupboards so no expense at the moment and I will replace things as I use them.

I phoned up CL Finance yesterday after work asking why my account which is part of my DMP and has been since 2008, has a marker of 6 payments late on my credit file. The lady I spoke to had a dreadful attitude, basically saying you didn't pay so that is why it is there. I started talking and she interrupted me all the time, so I told her quite firmly to be quiet until I had made my point and then I would listen to what she had to say.

I said that as my account had first begun to experience difficulties in 2008, the company should have filed a default on my credit file, this way it shows the agreement had been broken and I would eventually 6 years later, see it drop off my file. With the 6 payments late marker, they were disadvantaging me, by not recording correct information, she said they do this as the account is in arrears. I luckily had the quote open on the screen and said according to the OFT and FOS she (her company) were not allowed to use a 6 payments late marker in place of a default in order to extend the negative impact this would have on a persons credit file.

At this point the lady agreed with me that it was a difficult thing to get right, so I told her she should speak to her manager and make the correction to my credit file. She also agreed that I was making payments, albeit smaller than they would like. She went on to say her manager was not in the office so could not do anything.

She asked for an up to date telephone/mobile number and email address so they could call me, I said that I would not provide this information and I would call them again in one months time after looking at my credit file and if I see that the changes have not been made then I would pass the complete details to the FOS and see what they say :T

At this point she became completely mute and I finished the conversation saying there had better be a correction next month.

I am not holding my breath, but if it happens then it means that this will drop off my credit file in 2 years instead of the 6 years it would take after the final payment.

I do feel a bit better about the situation now and look forward to next month to see what happens :D

I phoned the bank last night too and confirmed the OPs I am making are actually reaching the account, I had convinced myself I had taken down the account number incorrectly so it is nice to know that this time I did something right :)

  • Go Heffi1, go.

It's amazing how many people in the credit industry have very little knowledge of financial law.

It's lovely to hear you so confident and pro-active x.

Thanks Rainbow, this site has helped enormously in educating me in what is the correct way of doing things, and it is only because someone else has had a problem that I have become aware of the law.

I am extremely confident on the phone when I think I am correct, I have been told I am quite forceful, pity it has taken me this long to put things right though, never mind, hopefully if it is corrected, it means I only have another 2 years before things start to improve, and by then I want to have paid a lot of OPs to the mortgage, one day I would even like to re-mortgage for a better rate, but that is for the future once I have built up a better credit rating again, I think sometime in 2020 might be ok to try ha ha

How are things with you Rainbow? x

  • Just wondering if you could preorder on Asda website for collection and get your son to pick up after work, which might save on petrol. dont know if he would do your shopping for you occasionally.

Not sure if you have that much over each month, but if you do, it might be better to put towards your debts, or put into a savings account until you have quite a bit to pay off two or more and come off the dmp altogether.

could you buy the mortgage off your mum somehow so its in your name, she pays you 'rent' to cover the interest part instead?

Make contingency plans in case you are redundant in March, what would happen if

Just ideas im afraid not sure if they are viable

    You will get there.
