I used to be a pushover to, but there came a point when I refused to have MUG stamped on my forehead any longer, people didn't seem to meet me in the middle, but I am making sure they do now.
I am sure you are more than a match for your brother-in-law.
Well done on getting your energy supplier organised. Another good day's work.

On a more cheery note, today is the first NSD I have had so I am really chuffed, I drove past a few places on the way to and from work and realised all of the times I would have stopped to pop in for 1 or 2 things. I want to have at least 10 this month, so wish me luck

And another NSD for me today, not much else to report, the spreadsheet is up to date and it looks like I am on target with the budget this month. I will update it again in a couple of days as I think there is one more thing to go through, and also my sons rent will hit the bank on the 10th so not as bad as I feared.
I need to look at the food budget again, this is the first proper month where I have really watched how much I am spending and I anticipate it being a big amount, but on the other hand there won't be as much to pay for next month. I have always just bought what I thought I needed and usually added on stuff that I didn't need too, so it was hard to work out what I had been spending, but this month has been an eye opener, there was a lot of stuff coming to an end so needed to be replaced, next month should be a better guide (I hope!)
Good luck with your food budget too Rainbow xBeen here for a long time and don't often post

Do you meal plan?
I am thinking of giving it a go. Will wait until Monday though, when I have a bit more time, to organise things.

No I don't and I could kick myself, I have all these good plans, but I am a !!!!!! for actually doing them, this diary helps as a kick up the bum for me, I have changed how I have been shopping for this month, telling myself at least 2 or 3 times while in the SM that I am only shopping for the week, not the month, so only buy what is needed.
I did buy a big bag of spuds today, well a sack really from a farm shop I pass on the way to work. I have been meaning to pop in for weeks now, so today I did. The price was not as good as I had hoped £10 for the sack, but the farmer sheepishly explained that because of the bad weather we have had it has been hard to get them out of the ground. I don't mind paying a little extra for stuff if I know where it is from. He has a lovely meat counter which I will go back to next month, all of it comes from the farm and you could see it was really fresh. He said he does 150 different variety of sausages  but usually only 4 different ones each week, so I asked for a list of flavours and will pick that up next time.
Gosh sorry I rambled on a bit there didn't I?Been here for a long time and don't often post

It is worth looking at the weight of your sack of potatoes Heffi, and then compare to buying the same weight of smaller bags / whatever you usually buy at the supermarket. It is usually loads cheaper, so might make you feel better x0

Thanks Dawn, my mum asked the price and when I told her she said, ooh they have gone up ha ha I think our little greengrocer used to do them for about £7.50 a couple of years ago.
I am really keen to go back as the meat counter was wonderful, I could have spent a LOT of money in there, but as I only had a tenner in my purse I had to leave, probably a good thing as the freezer is good for meat right now.Been here for a long time and don't often post
