Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 29th August. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in,put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, soplease don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning

Morning bargainbird and all to follow.
It feels like winter today - because I'm cold and it's dark out :p The temptation to curl up under the duvets is overwhelming but I'm dressed and about to leave for work so I best not.
Not much OS going on today, just work, OU work and a few ebay bits to package.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
  • Good Morning. I'm sat watching a beautful sunrise before the kids get up Mind if I join in?
Despite being a board member for 3 years nearly, I haven't put the whole board to use until this month:o - Off to buy some white vinegar today (use it on the washable nappies but never realised it was used for so much other stuff thanks zippychick :D) as well as taking the kids to the library. Oldest is taking part in the free 6 books in 6 weeks "Story Lab" challenge. There's an event on at one of the museums. So aside from the train journey it's a free day of stuff to do for the kids.
Sold a few items via ebay so those to pack before i go too.
Sudden it has become a busy day :D
Hope you all have a good day!

  • Good morning all,
Hello SH :hello:, i hope you enjoy your day out.
Dull and windy here today. I don't know what the weather is supposed to do, i haven't looked at the forecast.
Hubby and myself are going over the allotment today for a few hours. Lots to do over there, as always.
I'll do some baking later when the oven is on for tea tonight. Don't know what we are having yet though.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Very dark and gloomy here and the rain is torrential, think I may have to swim to work!

Fajitas for tea last night were very tasty, just lazed about after that. I did manage to throw away a box full of carp from the garage but that has hardly made a dent in the mess, DS2 has all his and GFs stuff stored in there. He is in Africa so goodness knows when it will be cleared!

Washing on racks, everything else not too bad, will put another load in before I go to work, evening job at 5 so a quick turn around for me. Not sure what's for tea yet, something quick for DD and I can eat at work. LO sausage casserole again for my lunch.

Welcome to SH, hugs to those in need. Take care. XX

Dry but chilly here this morning.

I'm the only one up, Just enjoying a coffee.

No work for my wife today . We are going to take the girls to the cinema this morning, Top cat the movie is on. It will be there first time going to the cinema, so we will have to see how they get only. Its only going to cost £5 for all four of us. Its some sort of Kids deal.

Thats about all there is to report really. not a lot going on here,

    Have a great day all:j:j
:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j
  • Hello everyone. Off to work in about an hour for me. Luckily me and my BF work in the same office, so it saves on travel costs, and we both take packed lunch which I made last night. Good thing too since we only have 21p left in our account until payday on Friday!
We have plenty of food in the house, so no worries on that front!
We are getting an extra freezer from BF's mum soon so we can do a big freezer stock up shop. There's a farm shop near us who put a leaflet through the door the other day saying they do fruit, veg and salad boxes £3.50 each, and you get loads in them. Might have to give them a try.
Hope everyone has a good day!

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that need/want them that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x

Sunny and bright here this morning, rain forecast for later. DH up and off to work stupid early.

Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/green beans. Needed to have a dinner that didn't take too much effort. Work was as expected, horrendous, loads of customers, so many customers come in with children and just seem to think they can run riot, had children climbing on chairs and using them as trampolines whilst the parents stood by and watched! Don't want to sound like a whingey old bat but it's not our job to look after customers children when they can't be bothered. Gentleman fell over so we had to call ambulance. Hoping today will be somewhat quieter! Just working until lunchtime then on days' off - if you haven't already guessed I'm pleased about that!

Haven't definitely decided on tonight's dinner so will need to organise that later. Friend may pop over later for coffee and catch up.

Had to laugh when I heard that the authorities have now decided that the "escaped lion" wasn't a lion, so typical a man mistakes it for something very much larger than it really was - wander if that man has those dillusions in other areas of his life!!! hehe.

Will just plod on with list of jobs once I get in from work, will make a start on naming uniform I think, boys school has complete new uniform so have loads to name.

Have a good day, stay safe and well x
