Great idea! I've been asking everyone I know if they've got an old fashioned picnic basket and so many people have said 'I used to have one... but got rid of it!'
I'm going to start hoarding again as it's clearly the best thing for all involved!
I'm now on a hunt for 60s-looking sunglasses and hope that the market tomorrow is fruitful, I've got 2 pairs of 50s style ones, but no 60s!
I shouldn't giggle at you trying to squeeze out a little cry yesterday and failing, but the image is quite comical!Makes me think of Cameron Diaz in The Holiday trying to cry and giving it up as a bad job!

Female guilt is the worst! After I handed my notice in I felt just the same. Happy I was going, but sad I was leaving the two people I was bothered about. Just remind yourself that you're 100% doing the right thing, hope the time flies between now and August 13th
Can't wait to see your dress! I'll probably just look a hot mess no matter what "look" I try to do for with the dreadlocks.
I like the sound of retro food! I'm doing a juice detox with OH to kick start some weight loss for him, from now until Saturday so I get to be a little pigglywig on Sunday!
ETA: My Parents used to have one, but they got rid of it in a clear out too! Damn it. I have a little green box *somewhere* that has plates, cups ect, and doubles up as a washing bowl for camping but it's only for 40 -
Yaaayyyyy congratulations Tete! Totally natural feeling sad, I felt the same and I hated my job! Its good that you are going to do something different, I think if someone leaves to do an identical job at a different organisation its a bit of a kick in the teeth for them but if they leave to progress/train etc then no-one can take that personally.
I had a little giggle at you trying to have a little cry too, I know exactly what you mean but it still tickled me!

I've got a really sexy picnic backpack that I can bring, it's not vintage at all but it's got coolbag sections which are more important than authenticity in this weather!
Despite telling OH about 10 times about the meet he still acted all shocked yesterday when I reminded him that I'm not around on Sunday! He's now trying to decide what to do with himself all day. I don't really get it, if I'm left alone I've always got a list of things I want to do/people to visit etc, he acts all cool and independent then does nothing when he hasn't got me to entertain him!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. Well, late to work (9am) this morning as worn out from yesterday (which was ace) ... it's now 9.20 and colleague still hasn't arrived. I guess he's not THAT panicked about taking over my work then...!
Met up with my two ex-colleagues (who left this time last year when we moved site) for tea on Friday and they were asking if I was going to have a leaving do. I said considering boss is now on leave for three weeks and colleague 2 is off on sick and no-one had mentioned anything, probably not. Which is sort of a shame because I've worked here a long time but it would just sum up everything I feel about the place that they'd let me just walk out one day and not come back. But the girls said, well organise something yourself, so I am! Sod it. And if I do it for my last day it means I won't have to work my last afternoon
Totally on countdown now. 16 working days to go!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I really enjoyed yesterday too!
Was worn out though, asleep before 10! Must've been the croquet!
Good idea about planning your own leaving do, it really annoys me when you're the one who organises things like this but who looks after you when it's for your benefit?! Hope they get you a pressie or at least a card!
16 working days left... that's so exciting! :j When do you start your teaching?Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
I mean, I would have expected to organise it, but would have thought someone would just have said "What are you doing for it?" you know, rather than me foist it on everyone
2nd September is my first day so I have just under three weeks' holidayIt'll be double that next year

Ooooh lovely, nice way to get yourself used to teacher's holidays!
Hope you spend it doing lovely relaxing things (and sewing all those clothes you owe yourself! 1 item a month Missy!
