Great news that you have told your boss Tete. I bet you feel way better for it!

I am also 'hippy'. I hate them with a passion, they get in the way of every dress and skirt. Lol!

I know CMD - the only skirts that suit me are A-line ones and I don't feel as though I've seen them in the shops for yonks - need to get stitching some :)

Whew, well I've just spoken to Colleague and told him I'm leaving, he's a bit quiet and is probably pretty miffed as he'll have to pick up my work (other colleague is on the sick for about 4 weeks at the mo - her Dad died suddenly so we don't actually know for certain when she'll be back) so I feel pretty bad :( But then, even if I'd given more notice, they're not replacing me anyway so it makes no difference. Wah, I am way too nice I know I am.

ANYWAY. Last day: 13th August!!! :D:D:D Off to write my official notice letter...

    Yay, the countdown begins :)

I've had today off to watch DD's sports day and try to get myself more organised, but it hasn't really happened.....oh well, maybe when (if?) it gets cooler tonight I'll get back to it......

How many binders are you getting Tete? I think I have about 15 already!!

Eep, how did she get on? Well we've been told we need three folders for our portfolio type work, then were advised to get one per year - ie Y7, Y8... But I was thinking one per year per language ... which makes 13 in total. But then perhaps one per language for any work I do with 6th form.... What are your 15 for? I've also bought myself a 2013-14 academic diary, despite reading (on TES forums?) that they're useless and you need a 'teacher's diary' ... it was pretty :D

Official notice now handed in. Isn't it silly- I've been moaning about this place for a good year, feeling down-trodden, unappretiated, taken-advantage-of, the lot ... and now that I'm actually going I feel kind of down and sad, and guilty that someone else will have to do my work. Where is that anger that's basically been powering me for 12 months?! :o

I've got each of the primary curriculum subjects and a few more for good luck - professional studies, and all that jazz. Good idea to have one for each language for each year, it would get far too confusing otherwise! I've printed out the current curriculum (i.e. the one for 2014 that hasn't been ratified yet!!) and the Rose Report on literacy and all sorts of other bumph!

I felt really sad after I handed my notice in and I've only been in my job since January, so I know how you're feeling, it's odd...but hopefully the excitement will kick in again soon :)

You're just a nice person, Tete :) Times of change can make you feel a bit off kilter too.

But OMG sooo exciting that your last day is 13th August. That is really soon!! :j :j

Sorry about the ASOS order Tete, hope you get a nice shopping spree in soon. I just go into one of the giant H and Ms and don't come out until I have found something.

I'm a mega pear shaped lady so no nice pencil skirts for me either. It's A-line or nowt. I haven't seen any in the shops for ages either. I only have 2 at the moment which is a nightmare in this hot weather.

Ha! I spoke to my best friend about it last night and she just said, "Female guilt! We all get it." which made me feel a bit better, although I had thought that only kicked in once you have kids!

Meeting this aft between me, colleague, manager and programme leader to discuss my handover - torn between trying to make it sound as though there's not too much to do to make colleague feel better, and really making a show of how much work I actually do... Actually I think when you list it all it doesn't sound like much, it's just the volume of people and their constant issues and queries that make it hard work, which he'll find out soon enough :p

Worked on my dress for the meet last night, it's a bit of a bish-bash-bosh jobbie but will probably look OK to anyone else (I hope). Vintage patterns are even more unfathomable than modern ones!

The guilt happens to the best of us. As your finish date gets closer you'll start questioning why you're leaving and forget about the rubbish parts of the job and start to say 'Oh it wasn't all that bad, why am I rocking the boat?' etc. :o Just be strong! :) As for the handover, maybe a nice balance between saying that it's not *too* bad for them to take over... but it can get manic so organisation is key? Or something like that? You don't want to scare your colleague so soon (I hope he's getting a pay rise if they're not replacing you!) but you don't want him to go into work on Monday morning and have a breakdown because he had no idea how much work he'd get lumbered with! :)

I'm looking forward to seeing your dress! I had a mind change last night and I'm now going as a 60s hippy! :) Decided that my sleek, polished 40s look would go limp and frizzy within minutes if the weather stayed as it is and as my dress is polyester it's not exactly good for hot weather either! Found a bargain hippyish dress in the charity shop last night so I'm good to go! Annoyed that I had the ideal hat to wear with it but binned it last month in the Big-Baby-Panic-Declutter! :o
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

I've already had some feelings like that actually! But like Lara says, times of flux are disconcerting. After everyone had gone home yesterday I tried to have a little cry because I sort of felt I needed to, but it didn't come so I guess I don't feel that bad! Colleague is being a lot nicer today, says he was in shock yesterday :o They won't give him a payrise, but he's looking around for something else now...

Haha I told you - hoarding is the way forward!! I have a large straw hat which I'll be bringing if the weather's still nice :) Can't wait to see your dress! I had a brainwave re. picnic food too - retro food! Going to do some vol au vents and things on sticks! :D
