Oh no Tete
(((((((HUGE HUGS))))))) So sorry to hear that. I really hope that Mavis will recover - keeping my fingers crossed.

Time for a bit of an update... Anyone who knows me outside of MSE will probably already know that Mavis died on Thursday evening. I went to see her after work and she wasn't in a good way but she responded to my stroking and was purring - the vet said she was the chirpiest he'd seen her since she'd gone in on the Tuesday and that he was going to advise us to put her to sleep but seeing how she'd reacted he was more inclined to see how she was overnight and reassess in the morning. It was difficult for him because he couldn't diagnose it so didn't know whether she'd recover or not. So we stayed with her for about 45 minutes, chatting to her and tickling her ears, and then left her with the vet and headed home. By the time I got in the house I'd had six missed calls, so I rang back and the vet said she'd died literally two minutes after we'd left - he even ran out into the car park to try and catch us but we'd gone. He said, although it sounds sentimental, it was as though she was just waiting to see us
In a way I was relieved as it took a really tough decision out of my hands - I would have hated to think I was keeping her alive and in pain if she wasn't going to recover and equally if I'd had her put to sleep I would always have wondered if I didn't give her enough chance to get better. So that's that. Miss her loads - although I do have Sally, Mavis was always the boisterous and funny one and the house is very quiet without her. Sally seems to be OK so far, I wonder if she could tell before Mavis went away, but she is a bit clingy as though she knows I'm upset.
As it's payday I'm off to do the money shuffle and recover myself a bitWeightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Again, really sorry about Mavis, but it's lovely you had some time just to play with her and she seemed comfortable and content xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

That's so sad about Mavis but it's nice that she did wait to say goodbye and take the difficult decision out of your hands.
Nice that Sally's giving you plenty of love too.
Got a little care package for you, going in the post tonight (hopefully!)Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
You make me 'awww' a lot Birdie, you're such a thoughtful soul. You made me cry with that book you sent Grace when she was born xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Aww shucks. It's just that I've become that crazy lady who sees things that make me think of you girls and I quite like sending parcels to people.
I've also just got some wicked cute return address labels that I'm dying to use!

:kisses3: Aww thanks everyone, and Birdie you sweetie!!
So the money shuffle is done. February was a Bad Money Month. Vet bills have depleted my savings a lot a lot, but what can you do?
I went away to Liverpool at the weekend - my Irish friend was meant to be going with her BF but he had to work at the last min and she didn't want to waste her flights so I went to join her - not the best idea financially but good to get away after the week I'd had.
I think I need to set up a forecast spreadsheet for monthly spends again - I used to do this all the time but let it drift a bit - got a few things coming up and could do with writing them down in one place. I know I need to pay for my hotel and minibus for the Edinburgh Half at the end of April so I've put this aside already, and I'm going on a bloggers' mini-break in a couple of weeks so will need a bit of petrol and spending money for that although the accommodation is paid for.
Work is still carpy as ever. Had an email from the VCE to say that the taxing of our mileage still stands. A colleague's wife works for the CAB so she's going to look into it for us, although I can't see us getting anywhere at all. The only other full time person on my team has been granted a flexible working pattern of 4 days 8am-6pm to help with childcare so I'm basically the only FT person, which sucks as I feel it puts a lot of pressure on me. Also, I can't see him staying til 6 every night when everyone else has left by 5, can you? That said, this won't come into effect til Sept so hopefully I won't even be here.
We had an email about the 2013 voluntary severance scheme so I think I'm going to put in for that. Although I don't think I will be accepted for a minute, it's a bit of a risk as I have to apply by 5th March and don't know whether I'll have anything else to go to if I get accepted. It could work out really well if I get a place on a course for September, I can leave at the end of Aug and would get 9 months' gross salary. Can't see it happening, but you don't know unless you try!
Study-wise, after feeling all optimistic after the roadshow I went to, I haven't made much movement there. I sent my CV to a SCITT place who were shortlisting for interview but haven't heard from them yet. Need a POA pretty quick sharp!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
I'd say put in for it, with a bit of luck you'll be in your course, but if the worst happens you can find a job you enjoy more. It's scary but imagine going through the job paper just to pick what you might enjoy.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
