I got my feedback from Uni 1 - basically not enough different school experience (which is strange as I've been in 4 different schools, admittedly at different times!), and something else which I can't remember now.
No news from Uni 2 yet.
Hmmm thats a blow. Different places must have their own exacting criteria. My DD1 friend just got a place on PGCE with only experience being a cub leader - no school at all. But does have First Class Hons degree..............Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Awww I hope Mavis is ok. My big fur baby is definitely getting old, she doesn't like going out anymore because she gets scared of the noises and just wants to sleep all day. That being said she was ripping a newspaper to shreds the other weekend! We don't have her insured and *touch wood* she's not needed too much treatment.
My godparent's dog on the other hand, he's a greyhound, and in the last year has broken his leg and had a blood clot on his spine. It's cost them almost £20,000 in total but the insurance company has paid every single penny back to them.Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170 -
Oh my god Ruby! I knew vets' bills could be in the £1,000s but not the £10,000s! :eek: Fingers crossed Mavis won't cost that much, although she did stay overnight last night so I'm expecting upwards of £500 now
Will have to get ebaying like a good'un!
I spoke to the vet at 5pm and they said she was improving but they wanted to keep her in on the drip overnight, which is what I was hoping they'd say to be honest. They then rang me at 10pm which was pretty scary but they just wanted to say she was still doing OK and they'd be in touch again this morning. It's nice to know that she's being well cared for for my money I guess - I ring up and just say "I'm calling about Mavis" and they know who she is straight away and can tell you about her. I'm at work again this morning (loads to do - shout at me if you see my green light on!) but Dad is going to ring them in a bit and go for her. Fingers crossed she's back to her normal boisterous self!
That's interesting about your friend Igamogam - I guess certain things outweigh others on the criteria list!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
Blimey that's quite a bill Ruby! :eek: I knew a lady who got a puppy and found out within the first few months that the poor little thing had a heart condition and kept needing treatment. Because it was an on-going thing from birth they couldn't get insurance and it'd cost them about £5k in the first year of having her! :eek:
Hope Mavis is doing OK this morning, must have been scary and upsetting for everyone.
That's really good advice about giving tasks 15 minutes to get into Beccie! Glad Mavis is doing well, is good they are keeping you informed.
My OH's mum was paying about £70 a month insurance for her great dane but was very expensive if she had to pay for treatment for him.0 -
Hope there is good news on Mavis today.
We've always had insurance after our cat cost us around £900 in 6 weeks, and I know my grandma's cat cost £6k for some such thing in a 3 month period, so I took my insurance out with the same company who paid all her bills for that as I have faith they'll pay out.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Had a phone call from the vets at 5 - she's not getting any better and not responding how they expect. Just sitting at my desk waiting for them to call me back with some blood test results
It's pretty scary when the experts don't seem to know what's wrong
